Sedgman is currently seeking a Senior Industrial Process Plant Automation Engineer to work out of our Vancouver, BC office location. 

The Senior Industrial Process Plant Automation Engineer is responsible for optimizing industrial processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.  This role is responsible for the design and implementation of industrial process control systems. Typical activities include automation design, PLC programming, SCADA configuration, network design, and technical document preparation.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the design of process control systems (PCS) and associated industrial networks with a focus on conceptual and detailed design for minerals and coal processing plants. 

  • Preparation of technical documents including design criteria, PCS functional specifications, and PCS and network drawings. 

  • Complete technical bid reviews and recommend vendors. 

  • Review and approve vendor drawings, DCS and PLC vendor programming, and attend Factory Acceptance Tests. 

  • Work with other teams including electrical, process, and business development to assist and provide expertise as required.

  • Provide material and engineering cost estimates to support marketing and proposal submissions. 

  • Some travel may be required (to attend Factory Acceptance Tests and perform on-site commissioning).

What are we looking for in our future team member?? Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical or Automation disciplines preferably. 

  • Must have at least (15) fifteen years' relevant experience using PLC programming and SCADA software including on-site commissioning, and project management experience.

  • You must have experience with the following :

    • Rockwell Automation PLC products including FactoryTalk View SE.

    • Industrial Ethernet networks.

    • PID loop controllers.

    • Mentoring and managing the workload of a team.

  • Be highly competent with written English.

  • Have a high level of technical writing ability, problem solving and analytical skills;

  • Ability to prioritise and control workload arising from a broad user base.

  • The following skills would be looked upon favourably but are not required, specifically experience with:

    • Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx DCS solution;  Rockwell Automation’s Application Code Manager (ACM);  Schneider Electric products including PLCs and SCADA solutions;  and DCS solutions such as Delta V.

    • SQL database design with SQL query construction and Python programming experience.

    • High level of competence with Microsoft Word.

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary Range: $165 K - $180 K

The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
