POSITION SUMMARY:
The Industrial Engineering Co-op supports the Materials Planning & Logistics team with technical analysis, material flow improvement, inventory optimization, replenishment planning, standard work development, and continuous improvement activities. This is a replacement position.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently enrolled in a Co-op program in Supply Chain, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business (Operations/Supply Chain), or a related field
- Interest in Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts (coursework or project experience is an asset)
- Ability to read basic layouts/drawings (CAD exposure is an asset)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerPoint and Visio (or similar flowcharting tools) is an asset
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize data, identify trends, and summarize findings
- Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and spending time on the plant floor
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines with guidance
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate cross-functionally
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
KEY CO-OP PROJECTS (TYPICAL):
- Material Flow Current-State Map: collect baseline data and create process maps/spaghetti diagrams for a selected area (with recommendations)
- Inventory/WIP Opportunity Analysis: analyze inventory, WIP, and line-side stock data to identify drivers and improvement opportunities
- Replenishment & Presentation Improvement: develop a part-by-part replenishment & presentation opportunity plan (point-of-use storage, FIFO lanes, supermarkets, delivery frequency, containerization, and routes); document proposed future-state standards including new technology solutions (e.g. AMRs)
- KPI Tracking & Reporting: build simple Excel dashboards to track agreed KPIs (e.g., delivery frequency, space utilization, material handling productivity)
- CI Event Support: participate in 5S/Kaizen activities; capture actions, track completion, and update standard work/visual controls
- Engineering Change Support (as assigned): help assess material flow impacts for packaging/BOM/point-of-use changes and support implementation tasks

Salary Range - ($28.09 - $33.05)
WORK AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
- Works in an office environment but will spend time on the plant floor and may be exposed to elements such as temperature variation and noise
- Occasional travel may be required (e.g., customer or supplier locations), depending on project needs
- Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position
