Job Description:

The Industrial Engineer serves as a subject matter expert and technical leader bridging Engineering and Operations. This role takes ownership of complex, high-impact manufacturing process challenges, leads cross-functional improvement initiatives, and provides design-for-manufacturability guidance to engineers and production teams.

The Industrial Engineer applies advanced Lean and industrial engineering methodologies to drive measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and lead time while supporting new product introduction and capital investment strategy.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex manufacturing processes that significantly improve efficiency, lead time, and product quality.
  • Provide technical leadership across Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations, improving engineering drawings, build processes, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Serve as a go-to resource for manufacturability challenges, providing guidance to engineers and production teams.
  • Champion shop floor process improvement initiatives, coaching operators and junior engineers to identify and implement improvements.
  • Support capital equipment evaluations, providing technical input on process requirements and manufacturing capabilities to guide investment decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives end-to-end, developing standardized processes, procedures, and standard work that can be replicated across operations.
  • Lead manufacturing layout planning, tooling and fixture design, and technology transfer initiatives while ensuring scalability and alignment with long-term manufacturing strategy.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of product design, materials, tooling, and production equipment to develop and optimize manufacturing methods for both new and existing products.
  • Develop and implement demand-driven manufacturing strategies supporting operational excellence and long-range capacity planning.
  • Utilize knowledge of equipment manufacturing (mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and control interfaces) to collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on process integration and new product introduction.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 6–8+ years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience within a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex engineering projects and drive cross-functional improvements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN).
  • Deep understanding of Lean manufacturing principles, value stream mapping, and structured problem-solving methodologies (A3, DMAIC).
  • Experience facilitating Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex manufacturing challenges independently.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and servo systems.
  • Familiarity with equipment manufacturing environments, including mechanical assembly, electrical integration, and system validation/commissioning.
