Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint, Michigan, on a full-time basis.
The Role
As an Industrial Engineer, you will lead the team in conducting thorough assessments of work processes, ensuring that all aspects are optimized for efficiency and quality. This includes analyzing working sequence, job instructions, line balance, man-machine interface, cycle time, cycle variation, part presentation, and ergonomics
Take ownership of identifying and eliminating waste, driving a culture of continuous improvement that enhances productivity and quality outcomes. Collaborate closely with the team to develop and implement strategies that align with annual productivity targets. Your leadership will empower and engage all team members to contribute their best.
Be prepared for flexible work hours, including weekend support, to accommodate the needs of the project and the team. While travel requirements for this position are limited, anticipate occasional on-site support and guidance as needed.
What You'll Do
- Provide standard time data to the team for writing Standardized Work
- Analyze jobs for safety, quality, and efficiency and recommend changes/improvements
- Maintain standardized work documentation as current
- Support a standard process for managing changes to standardized work across all shifts
- Complete regular validations of manual and automatic cycles
- Provide throughput analysis reports and analyze throughput improvement proposals to remove bottlenecks
- Conduct ergonomic assessments of work with UAW joint partner
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 1-2 years of industrial engineering experience.
- Proficiency in designing work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements. Your expertise will contribute to the development of optimized processes.
- Knowledge and ability to coach and implement lean manufacturing principles, driving continuous improvement and waste reduction.
- Familiarity with ergonomic principles and risk factors, ensuring that workstations are designed to promote employee health and safety.
- Strong analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with team members and customers. These skills will be essential in problem-solving and issue resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results. Your ability to prioritize and meet deadlines will contribute to the success of the team.
