Job Description:

Job Overview

Broadcom is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to leverage operations analysis, lean manufacturing techniques, and data science to optimize manufacturing workflows, improve yield, and scale fab capacity. Located at our 24/7 high-volume manufacturing facility in Breinigsville, PA, this role will address dramatically increasing production volumes and operational complexities.

The primary objective of this role is to establish higher predictability for factory outs and throughput, design operational execution controls, and build robust dynamic models to support continuous fab scaling

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Analysis & Time Studies: Conduct rigorous operational research, process flow assessments, and time studies to identify line constraints, eliminate bottlenecks, and standardize cycle times across manufacturing areas.
  • Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement: Lead the implementation of Lean manufacturing methodologies, 5S workplace organization, Kaizen initiatives, and Kanban pull systems to reduce waste and streamline Work-In-Progress (WIP) movement
  • Throughput & Out Predictability: Drive initiatives to significantly increase predictability for production outs and line throughput amid rising product volumes and operational complexities.
  • Capacity & Simulation Modeling: Generate, maintain, and refine capacity models and discrete-event process simulations to forecast tool utilization, product cycle times, and output limits.
  • Trigger Charts & Operational Visualizations: Design and deploy visual trigger charts, operational dashboards, and run/wait/hold metrics to provide actionable real-time feedback to shift supervisors and engineering teams.
  • Data Integration & Analytics: Extract and compile operational datasets from SECS/GEM equipment interfaces, MES, and databases to analyze throughput variations and build predictive control metrics.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with production supervisors, process engineers, and fab management from project inception through maturity to execute throughput enhancement projects.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Industrial Engineering Core: Demonstrated track record applying Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kanban systems, line balancing, and time/motion studies within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Modeling & Analytics Skills: Proven capability in building dashboards, capacity models, trigger systems, and predictive tools using analytical software (e.g., JMP, Tableau, SQL, Python, Excel, AI, PowerBI).
  • Industry Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with cleanroom operations, electronics manufacturing, or semiconductor wafer fab processes is strongly preferred.
  • Problem Solving & Communication: Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex manufacturing data alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional reporting.
