Description

BLOX is revolutionizing the construction industry by integrating advanced manufacturing principles with innovative technology to deliver high-quality, modular building solutions. We are driven by a mission to rethink how buildings are designed, fabricated, and delivered, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.

Position Summary

We are seeking a driven, results-focused Industrial Engineer to optimize material flow and line-side operations across our manufacturing environment. This role will focus on designing efficient line-side layouts, establishing standardized material presentation and replenishment systems, optimizing floor-space utilization, and eliminating waste associated with walking, searching, waiting, and unnecessary material handling.

The Industrial Engineer will work closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to ensure the right material is available at the right location, in the right quantity, at the right time. The role will apply Lean and 5S principles to create organized, visual, and standardized production environments that improve productivity, safety, material availability, and scalability as manufacturing volumes increase.

Job Responsibilities

· Design and optimize line-side layouts, material locations, workstations, staging areas, racks, carts, and point-of-use storage.

· Develop and implement standardized material replenishment systems, including min/max levels, Kanban, delivery routes, and replenishment frequencies.

· Optimize material flow from storage to point of use while minimizing operator travel, material handling, WIP, and congestion.

· Establish standardized line-side inventory levels based on production demand, consumption, takt time, and replenishment capability.

· Improve 5S, visual management, material identification, and workplace organization across manufacturing areas.

· Analyze floor-space utilization and develop layouts that support current production needs while allowing for future growth.

· Partner with Supply Chain and Material Handling to establish reliable point-of-use replenishment processes.

· Identify and eliminate recurring material shortages, excess inventory, searching, double handling, and unnecessary movement.

· Develop standardized layouts and material-flow practices that can be replicated across production lines and facilities.

· Use data, time studies, production requirements, and direct observation to identify opportunities and measure improvements.

· Lead continuous improvement projects that reduce labor requirements, improve production flow, and increase manufacturing capacity.

· Train and coach teams on 5S, lean principles, and best practices.

Job Skills & Qualifications

· BS/MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems Engineering, or related field.

· 3-6 years minimum in manufacturing or process engineering.

· Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.

· Experience leading cross functional initiatives.

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

· Proven experience implementing and sustaining 5S programs in a manufacturing environment.

· Lean manufacturing, 5S, Value Stream Mapping.

· Cost reduction and process optimization.

· AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Forma, Power BI, Visio, Smartsheet, MS Office.
