Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer or Principal Industrial Engineer to join our team in Rocket Center, WV just outside of Cumberland, MD. The Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) site in Rocket Center designs, develops and manufactures tactical rocket motors, medium caliber ammunition, composite components and end items, and fuze and electronics equipment. For decades, the dedicated and highly skilled team at ABL have supported national security efforts by developing and building defense systems for DoD customers and U.S. allies. This position is onsite only. No remote work is available for this position.
Responsibilities will include:
Positively impact the financial bottom line by working with other engineering and non-engineering disciplines and departments to eliminate waste and improve processes
Utilize mathematical modeling, data analysis, and simulation techniques to analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and streamline processes
Design and implement processes to improve efficiency and flow throughout the factory
Complete time studies and cycle bar charts on production lines and processes
Create Value Stream Maps for manufacturing lines
Design equipment layouts, material Kanban, facilities, and flow simulations
Work directly with Engineers, Program Office, Finance, and functional leadership on program capacity analysis
Support programs and briefings to both external and internal customers on plant capacity
Aide integrated product teams in solutions to problems related to product and information flow on the manufacturing floor
Facilitate continuous improvement events to develop, define and improve processes in the overall value streams
Support analyses for the acquisition, maintenance & enhancement of capital assets and miscellaneous equipment
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, while communicating critical dates to all stakeholders
Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (2):
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 2 years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis or a Masters degree in STEM with 0 years of experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance for which US citizenship is a prerequisite.
Manufacturing Execution System (MES) experience
Experience using the full suite of Microsoft Office Tools
Experience using Excel, including macros, data mining, and pivot tables
Experience with data mining, data analysis, or data visualization software applications (Tableau)
Experience with factory simulation / modeling (FlexSim)
Basic Qualifications for Principal Industrial Engineer (3):
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis or a Masters degree in STEM with 3 years of experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance for which US citizenship is a prerequisite.
Manufacturing Execution System (MES) experience
