We are seeking a seasoned leader to drive the Product Management function for Daimler Truck across the Southeast Asia (SEA) region, based in PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia (DCVI), headquartered in Jakarta. DCVI is part of Daimler Truck, one of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. Representing Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses in Indonesia, operating with a nationwide presence.
In this role, you will lead strategic planning, lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance of our commercial vehicle product portfolio across SEA. You will ensure that every product meets evolving market requirements, complies with diverse regional regulatory and homologation standards, and supports our long-term commercial objectives. By integrating product strategy with technical and regulatory governance, you will enable timely product introductions, secure legal market access, and strengthen Daimler Truck’s competitive position across this dynamic region.
Additionally, you shall be overseeing the Marketing & Communication activities, developing marketing strategies to improve product‑related messaging and market positioning. Your leadership will help ensure cohesive communication across internal teams, distributor partners, and key stakeholders.
ResponsibilitiesYour main responsibilities will include the following:
1. Product Strategy and Product Management Portfolio
Develop and lead the SEA product strategy and roadmap for trucks and buses.
Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify customer needs, market gaps, and growth opportunities.
Prioritize product features and specifications based on market demand, regulatory requirements, and financial impact.
Partner with global product teams to localize global platforms for SEA market requirements.
Manage full product lifecycle—from introduction to end-of-life.
2. Homologation & Regulatory Compliance
Lead the homologation, certification, and regulatory approval processes for all commercial vehicle products across SEA markets.
Ensure compliance with local regulations such as ASEAN NCAP, UNECE, Euro 4/5/6 emission standards, ADR, IMDA, and country-specific commercial vehicle regulations.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, ministries of transport, test agencies, and industry associations.
Oversee technical and audit documentation, test reports, vehicle type approvals, and regulatory submissions.
Identify regulatory risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
3. Product Launches and Market Readiness
Manage the end-to-end product launch process together with Marketing team, ensuring timely approvals, documentation readiness, and technical validation.
Ensure all markets receive homologated, fully compliant vehicles aligned with local regulations.
Lead pilot programs, customer trials, and fleet validation initiatives.
4. People Leadership & Development and Cross-functional Collaboration
Lead, motivate, and engage all team members in line with Daimler Truck’s Great Leadership Behaviors.
Ensure people development through targeted coaching, talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
Work closely with engineering, R&D, sales, aftersales teams to align product plans and launch schedules.
Coordinate product localization initiatives, including body-builder integration, component specifications, and regional adaptations.
Drive go-to-market readiness with marketing and sales teams, ensuring accurate product positioning and competitive pricing.
Conduct product profitability analyses and business cases for new introductions.
Support regional forecasting, pricing strategy, and product mix optimization.
5. Customer Engagement & Projects
Collect and analyze customer and fleet operator insights to improve product competitiveness.
Recommend updates, technical changes, or new derivatives based on field performance and regulatory developments.
Monitor reliability, quality, GPS/telematics requirements, and market-specific operational needs (e.g., tropical climate adaptation, vocational usage).
And any other assigned projects and responsibilities.
6. Marketing & Communication (TO CONFIRM)
Lead and manage all marketing communication and event activities including Dealer Conference, ensuring full alignment with Daimler Truck strategy and brand standards.
Lead the creation, coordination, and alignment of annual marketing plans, including budgeting, with regional HQ and corporate stakeholders. Ensure marketing activities are executed with strong budget discipline, high effectiveness, and quality delivery.
Direct corporate communication and PR strategies for SEA region.
Ensure internal and dealer communications are aligned with corporate guidelines and communication strategies.
Monitor brand usage in the market and implement corrective actions when required.
Build and maintain strong relationships with media, social media influencers, and key opinion leaders.
Oversee corporate digital channels (website, mobile platforms, social media) in line with brand and communication strategy.
- Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline (Mechanical/Automotive preferred).
- Min. 10 years of experience in product management, homologation, or technical management within the commercial vehicle or automotive sector.
- Strong understanding of SEA regulatory frameworks, homologation processes, and commercial vehicle applications.
- Familiarity with the commercial vehicle business ecosystem, including wholesale, retail sales, aftersales, and bodybuilder integration.
- Strong understanding of marketing communication (online/digital platforms), brand management, and media/public relations.
- Strong business acumen and strategic mindset
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with proficiency in an additional Southeast Asian language considered a strong advantage.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the SEA region.
This position is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. A valid and approved work visa is required for employment in Jakarta in accordance to local labour law regulations.
