The Team
The Group Tax team is a growing team that consists of eight tax professionals.
This is a full-time position, based in Copenhagen / Oslo. Reports to Director Group Tax.

Key areas of work/ goals:

  • Drive and coordinate VAT structuring in transactions 
  • Identify VAT structuring opportunities and cost-saving initiatives, ensuring an appropriate balance between efficiency and risk. 
  • Monitor and analyse VAT structure in the group and initiate projects to reduce overall VAT burden in the Group 
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local tax and finance teams to ensure consistency and collaboration across jurisdictions. 
  • Lead and manage VAT controversy matters in cooperation with local finance teams and external advisors. 
  • Monitor international tax developments and evaluate impacts on the Group’s structure and planning. 
  • Participate in structuring of new market entries and support initiatives across regions. 

Job Description

The Indirect Tax Manager drives Heimstaden Bostad’s indirect tax projects and works on supporting the effective indirect tax operations. The role ensures that the Group’s indirect tax structures are efficient, compliant, and aligned with Heimstaden Bostad’s long-term business objectives and sustainable value creation.

The position serves as a functional and operational expert within the Group Tax team, leading projects and providing direction for VAT optimisation on new development projects, transactions, efficient and high quality VAT compliance. The role collaborates closely with local finance teams across all Heimstaden Bostad jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for implementing the VAT group in Sweden and other countries as applicable and ensuring ongoing compliance with VAT Group requirements 
  • Review VAT key applied in all countries and optimize VAT deduction 
  • Train AP/AR teams in all countries on VAT handling 
  • Review VAT registration and VAT groups in all countries to ensure optimized structure 
  • Standarize VAT handling across the group, including advising in the implementation and maintenance of ERP and other invoicing systems  
  • Conduct internal controls on VAT to ensure correct handling 
  • Handle VAT audits across all jurisdictions 
  • VAT structuring on new development projects and transactions and ensure correct application of required adjustment rules 
  • Handle ad hoc indirect tax matters and projects as determined by the Director Group Tax

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Holds a master’s degree in Law or Finance.
  • 6-8 years of experience with indirect taxes, preferably from a multinational group, Big 4, law firm or tax authority.
  • Strong expertise in VAT in real estate .
  • Solid understanding of EU VAT rules and VAT rules in Scandinavia.
  • Works strategically and in a structured manner, with high professional integrity.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills; proficiency in Swedish is an advantage.
