Key Responsibilities
Income Tax Compliance
- Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of all U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments.
- Manage international income tax reporting and compliance requirements, including coordination with foreign affiliates and external tax advisors.
- Ensure timely and accurate compliance with applicable tax laws and reporting obligations across all jurisdictions.
- Review complex tax calculations, workpapers, and supporting documentation.
Tax Accounting (ASC 740)
- Lead quarterly and annual income tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Oversee calculations related to current and deferred taxes, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions.
- Ensure accuracy of tax-related financial statement disclosures and supporting documentation.
- Partner with Accounting and Finance teams to support financial close processes and tax reporting requirements.
Audit & Tax Controversy
- Serve as the primary point of contact for federal, state, local, and international tax audits, examinations, and inquiries.
- Manage relationships with tax authorities, external auditors, and tax service providers.
- Coordinate audit responses, information requests, and documentation to support tax positions.
- Monitor and resolve tax notices, assessments, and controversy matters.
Tax Planning & Advisory
- Provide strategic tax planning support for business initiatives, operational activities, corporate transactions, restructurings, and growth opportunities.
- Analyze tax implications of business decisions and recommend practical tax-efficient solutions.
- Review and negotiate commercial agreements for tax-related provisions, indemnification clauses, and potential tax exposures.
- Support international tax planning, transfer pricing initiatives, and cross-border transactions as needed.
Indirect Tax Management
- Oversee sales and use tax compliance, reporting, and remittance activities across applicable jurisdictions.
- Monitor indirect tax requirements and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements.
- Assess and mitigate indirect tax risks through effective controls and processes.
Process Improvement & Leadership
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and internal controls to enhance tax compliance and reporting efficiency.
- Monitor tax law and regulatory developments, evaluating their impact on the business and recommending appropriate actions.
- Partner with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and operational teams on tax-related matters.
- Mentor, develop, and provide technical guidance to junior tax professionals while helping build and strengthen the tax function.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
- 8+ years of progressive tax experience, including a combination of public accounting and/or corporate tax experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Extensive experience with ASC 740 income tax accounting and tax provision processes.
