Position Overview
The Import-Export Manager is responsible for the IMMEX program. Making sure all import and export operations, fixed asset importations and inventory balances for temporary imported goods are in compliance with Mexican Customs Law and Regulations.
This position understands how the company’s bill of materials work and the relationship on the multiple SAP units of measure and their respective conversion factors. This important piece of data is useful when reviewing or auditing the customs database and the backflush process, the most important requirement for an IMMEX company.
What you'll do
- IMMEX and MX Customs Law and regulations Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Maintain the IMMEX inventory control under the required timeframe threshold and present all backflush reports in a timely manner
- Generate and monitor the operations KPIs (Duties, taxes, Cross-Border and carrier hub on-time performance, MX/US customs inspections, etc)
- Liason with HD Corporate Customs on CF-28 requirements
- Works with HD Corporate Customs in reviewing and challenging classification codes, descriptions, duty waiver programs for each PCN listed on the master component file
- Work in conjunction with the CTPAT/OEA lead to maintain compliance under both customs programs
- Support in the CIVA renewal process
- Perform the annual Revision en Origen and IMMEX reports
- Liason with the marketing and engineering departments for new product introductions, requesting to attend all related meetings to offer insight on MX customs compliance and to maintain the import-export team informed on new developments.
- Keep all record keeping requirements set forth by both CBP and MX Customs
- Main point of contact with all MX/US customs brokers pertaining to the operations
- Work with the MX Customs Compliance Lead in maintaining all SOPs up to date and perform the operational execution as planned
- Perform USMCA origin certification analysis for new products
- Coach and train all team members according to their responsibilities and empower those who are ready to take further responsibilities
- Review & approve all updates to the customs compliance database
- Responsible for all and any IMMEX permit request to SAT (R8, PROFEPA, etc) requested by the import-export coordinator or import-export specialist
- Works with the local finance team, on PECE issues and month-end financial reporting. Aligning what the brokerage and DataStage reports show on paid amounts vs invoiced. Generating and maintaining the import-export operations report for management.
- Process the annual Cost Reconciliation report with CBP, working in conjunction with the finance department and the corporate customs team
Represent the company on Mexican customs audits - Evaluate and maintain any NOM or marking requirements
- Any other activity assigned by the International Logistics Leader
Who you are
Reports to: International Logistics leader.
Bachelor's Degree: Comercio Exterior y Aduanas, LAE, or similar
Experience requirements: 8 years.
English leavel: 90%.
Skills: SAP (desired), MS Office (Word, excel & Powerpoint) use of an inventory control software.
