The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Import Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting international trade activities by collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners. This position focuses on ensuring efficient coordination, compliance, and execution of import and export operations aligned with the company’s commercial objectives in Mexico.
As an Import Analyst you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) in import and export processes, maintaining and improving standard procedures, guidelines, and operational workflows.
Supporting internal and external audits related to customs and trade operations, while coordinating activities such as customs clearance, import permits, broker management, document validation, Incoterms application, and interaction with customs authorities and other government agencies.
Applying your expertise to ensure compliance with applicable import/export regulations in Mexico, while supporting key projects and initiatives that strengthen trade operations and regulatory adherence across the organization.
Coordinate with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate execution of import and export operations.
Review and validate key trade documents (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, bills of lading) to ensure compliance with Mexican customs regulations.
Oversee shipment planning and tracking with carriers, warehouses, and logistics partners, ensuring adherence to schedules and visibility of operations.
Manage import permits and registrations, minimizing risks of delays or disruptions in customs clearance.
Monitor and support export operations, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and proper coordination with logistics providers.
Maintain accurate and complete foreign trade documentation for audit purposes and regulatory compliance.
Identify and resolve discrepancies such as shortages, overages, or damages, including claims management and coordination with internal teams.
Prepare reports on trade operations, costs, and performance, while tracking import/export expenses and supporting financial processes.
Ensure proper tariff classification of goods and compliance with applicable regulations.
Promote continuous improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency in logistics and trade processes.
Act as a key point of contact to communicate trade policies and ensure alignment across departments.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Degree in International Business, Foreign Trade, international relations or similar.
Experience with customs services – import (export is desirable)
Intermediate to advanced English proficiency (both written and spoken)
Knowledge of the OEA and CTPAT program or Risk Assessment Skills
3-5 years of experience with similar functions performed
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Knowledge of SAP (Power BI, Power APP, Power Automate) are desirable.
Able to deal with a high degree of ambiguity, maintain composure and negotiate solutions in stressful situations.
Excellent communication, presentation and teamwork skills, with the ability to motivate.
Creative thinker with vision.
Problem solving skills.
Must be interested in International Trade and Economics. This area itself is highly regulatory and compliance-oriented.
Work location: Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to site regularly
Travel: May include up to 5% [domestic/international]
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
