As an Implementation Consultant, you will serve Instructure’s customers by fulfilling both project management and technical consultation responsibilities.

Project Management Responsibilities:

Initiation

  • Perform project requirements gathering to inform the project planning process.

  • Ensure project resources know their responsibilities for the project and who is responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed at each part of the project lifecycle.

  • As appropriate, create project charter documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Planning

  • Prepare project schedule and aligned resource assignment.

  • Proactively identify project risks and create mitigation plans for those risks.

  • Craft and coordinate communication plans that will keep all project participants updated and aware of the project status.

Execution

  • Manage expectations with clients and internal resources.

  • Create and maintain documentation relevant to project deliverables.

  • In collaboration with leadership, ensure that the proper resources are allocated to projects in order to achieve project objectives.

  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and escalation points to clear project blockers and to proactively mitigate risks.

  • Orchestrate services delivery that includes third parties that are part of the project.

  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs in accordance with company change management processes.

Monitoring and Controlling

  • Apply project controls to delivery processes to ensure on time and within budget delivery of professional services.

  • Provide regular project status updates to internal and external audiences, and demonstrate ability to properly tailor communication to the different audiences.

  • Build and maintain project plans and templates within our project management tools.

Closure

  • Work with Customer stakeholders to obtain acceptance for project deliverables.

  • Ensure that project documentation is complete and provided to relevant stakeholders at project close.

  • Conduct internal project retrospective meetings to support continuous improvement efforts.

Technical Consultation Responsibilities:

  • Consult customers on the following crucial configuration tasks for SaaS platforms:

    • Single sign on (SSO) integration with identity provider platforms

    • Data integrations with student information systems, membership management systems, and HR information systems

    • Configuration of platform roles and permissions

    • Installation and configuration of LTI-compliant third party applications

    • Establishment of an account hierarchy that matches intended platform usage

  • Consult customers on migration of content from third party learning platforms and help them develop migration plans.

  • Identify and design ways AI can be used to increase customer time to value and internal efficiency.

  • Build and maintain technical documentation regarding integrations and systems involved in implementations.

  • Consult on how to use JavaScript and CSS to customize experiences in Instructure products where supported.

  • Scope and recommend technical solutions, including gathering technical and functional requirements.

  • Guide customers on the best way to leverage APIs for Instructure Products to accomplish their goals.

  • Manage internal and external stakeholder audiences and tailor communication about technical and non-technical implementation topics for those audiences.

  • Research and understand client needs and objectives to support customisation of services, growth of consulting offerings, and improved customer experience.

  • Identify areas where additional support, training, or consulting are needed for yourself and for our Customers.

  • Participate in team projects that support goals and initiatives of the team.

Here is what you will need to know/have:

  • Ability to confidently and effectively manage external stakeholders for project delivery.

  • Experience designing, documenting, and communicating technical solutions in ecosystems involving SaaS applications.

  • Familiarity with multiple identity provider authentication systems.

  • Experience and familiarity with APIs and an understanding of how they can be used to integrate multiple applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to determine priorities based on timeline and business value.

  • Ability to use web conferencing technologies and web based tools like Gmail, Google Docs and Google Calendar to coordinate, manage and facilitate meetings

Exceptional Candidates will also have the following experience:

  • Experience with one or more programming languages

  • Working knowledge of technology deployment strategies and best practices, especially in an educational context

  • Experience building custom reports and data visualizations, and helping customers interpret and understand their data
