ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The IFRS Technical Accounting Manager is a key member of the Group Financial Reporting team, responsible for delivering expert-level IFRS technical accounting analysis and guidance on complex and material accounting matters.
This role involves providing guidance to business teams on the impact of proposed commercial transactions as well as leading and supporting strategic financial projects such as impairment assessments, mergers and acquisitions, and the implementation of new IFRS standards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide and present in-depth IFRS accounting analysis and technical position papers concerning material and complex transactions and contracts, including ongoing commercial matters, M&A activities and other significant commercial matters to SES senior leaders.
- Coordinate and prepare high-quality consolidated financial statements, ensuring compliance with all disclosure requirements and completion of supporting documentation (e.g. IFRS disclosure checklists).
- Manage the preparation, review, and follow-up of technical accounting position papers with both internal and external auditors, ensuring alignment and clear communication of accounting judgments.
- Lead the adoption and implementation of new IFRS accounting standards or changes in accounting policies across SES group, ensuring consistent and accurate application globally.
- Perform and oversee periodic valuation and impairment analyses, including financial investment reviews and other complex accounting assessments.
- Support the Director, Group Financial Reporting in guiding and developing the Group Financial Reporting team, for example through training, accounting handbooks and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent), preferably with a Big-4 background
- Minimum of five years' experience providing IFRS technical accounting advice or auditing complex international multi-currency consolidations under IFRS
- Proven experience of preparing or reviewing consolidated financial statements for multinational organisations and in analysing and drawing up full technical position papers on accounting matters in an international group
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, drive process improvements and collaborate across global teams
