Position Description
This position combines industrial design (CMF) expertise with user experience (UX) capabilities to create intuitive, visually compelling, and user-centric design solutions for building automation systems (BAS), products and digital platforms.
Design and deliver end-to-end user experiences across hardware interfaces (controllers, I/O modules, panels) and software platforms (Windows application, web/mobile dashboards).
Collaborate with product managers, R&D, and engineering teams to define and translate product requirements into design solutions.
Drive consistency in global design language, usability, and branding across BAS product portfolio.
Transform complex technical workflows into simple, intuitive, and efficient user interactions.
Contribute to design strategy, ensuring alignment with user needs, market trends, and business goals.
Support product differentiation through innovative industrial design and user experience improvements.
Essential Job Functions
Industrial Design (ID)
Design physical product elements including controllers, I/O modules, sensors, and HMI panels:
From factors, layout, and ergonomics
Colors, materials, finishes, and manufacturability
Collaborate with hardware and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and cost optimization.
Maintain brand identity and product design language consistency across hardware portfolio.
User Experience (UX) & Interface Design
Lead UX design activities from concept to final delivery, including:
User research, personas, and journey mapping
Wireframes, prototypes, and interaction design
Usability testing and iteration
Design intuitive UI for BAS software platforms (BMS/SCADA, Edge/Cloud dashboards).
Ensure consistency through design systems, UI standards, and reusable components.
Simplify complex building control workflows into user-friendly experiences for operators and facility managers.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
Product management to translate VOC/OVOC and requirements into design solutions
Global and local engineering teams to ensure feasibility and implementation
Marketing to support product storytelling and visual assets
Support NPI (New Product Introduction) projects with design inputs and validation.
Act as a key contributor in design reviews and cross-functional workshops.
Market & Customer Insights
Conduct VOC and Gemba walk activities, usability studies, and field observations to understand end-user needs.
Analyze industry trends, competitor ID/UX/UI approaches, and emerging design practices.
Translate insights into actionable design improvements and roadmap inputs.
Execution & Delivery
Deliver high-quality design assets including:
UI specifications and interaction guidelines
Industrial design drawings and renderings
Prototypes (digital and physical where applicable)
Ensure alignment with development timelines and product release milestones.
Support continuous improvement through feedback loops post-launch.
Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Industrial Design, Interaction Design, UX/UI Design, or related field.
A minimum of six years of professional experience in UX/UI design, industrial design, or integrated product design roles, consistent with mid-senior level professional expectations.
Experience designing B2B products, industrial systems, or Cloud platforms is highly preferred.
Strong portfolio demonstrating:
Industrial design (ID/CMF) capability (must have)
UX process (research → design → validation)
UI design excellence
Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
Understanding of design systems, usability principles, and human-centered design methodologies.
Ability to balance aesthetics, usability, and technical constraints.
Excellent communication skills, including professional writing and communication skills in local language and English (a must), and superior group presentation skills.
Experience working in cross-functional, global environments.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with BAS, IoT, or smart building technologies is a strong plus.
Desire and willingness to be held accountable for delivering business results.
Occasional travel is required (up to 20%) to support product initiative, project implementation and ODM/OEM supplier, customer field Gemba visit.
Skills Required

- Demonstrated UX process experience (research, design, validation)
- Strong UI design skills and portfolio of UI work

- Understanding of design systems, usability principles, and human-centered design
- Excellent communication skills in local language and English, plus strong presentation skills
- Experience working in cross-functional, global environments
