As demand for resilient and secure digital infrastructure continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced ICT - Data Centre Lead to support the development and delivery of critical ICT infrastructure projects across Buildings, Infrastructure, Energy, Defence and Transport.

This role offers the opportunity to take technical leadership on complex data centre projects while mentoring teams and supporting business growth within a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary consulting environment.

The Opportunity

As the ICT - Data Centre Lead, you will be responsible for the technical leadership, coordination and delivery of ICT engineering services across a range of data centre and critical infrastructure projects.

You will lead teams of ICT engineers and designers, oversee investigations and designs, provide technical assurance, and play an active role in client engagement and tender development. You will operate with a high level of autonomy while working closely with discipline and project leads within KBR’s established governance and quality management systems.

The role primarily supports projects in Sydney and Melbourne, with opportunities to contribute across other KBR locations as required.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of ICT engineering services for data centre and critical infrastructure projects, including investigations, designs, specifications and technical advisory services.
  • Act as a technical mentor and discipline lead, guiding ICT engineers, designers and modellers.
  • Plan and manage work packages for medium to large multi‑disciplinary projects, or lead smaller discipline‑specific projects end‑to‑end.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, to scope, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Prepare, review and verify design calculations, reports and technical documentation.

People & Practice Leadership

  • Supervise and coordinate small teams of professionals, supporting performance, development and capability uplift.
  • Allocate resources and work packages effectively and undertake localised resource planning.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior and mid‑level engineers and designers.
  • Support objective setting, performance review and knowledge sharing within the team.

Client & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulators and project partners.
  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposals, tenders, budgets and delivery strategies.
  • Support identification of new opportunities in the data centre and critical infrastructure markets.
  • Represent KBR professionally in client meetings and industry engagements.

Governance & Quality

  • Ensure all work complies with KBR procedures, relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Embed lessons learned and continuous improvement into delivery and design processes.
  • Operate within KBR’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.

What You Bring

You are a technically strong ICT professional with leadership experience and a passion for delivering high‑quality outcomes in complex environments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Communications Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in ICT engineering within consulting, design or infrastructure delivery environments.
  • Strong experience in data centre infrastructure and critical ICT systems.
  • Previous experience leading teams and managing work packages on multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Consulting or design experience within the infrastructure sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams as a design manager or technical lead.
  • Strong capability in preparing and reviewing design calculations, reports and technical specifications.
  • Experience coordinating with civil, structural, environmental and other engineering disciplines.
  • Project management and proposal preparation experience.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing project and proposal budgets.
  • Commitment to health, safety, environmental and quality outcomes.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CPEng) or eligibility to obtain CPEng, RPEQ or RPEV (or equivalent).
  • Ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Baseline initially; NV1 preferred).
