About this opportunity
We are expanding our capability to develop opensource-based Generative AI services for internal use at Ericsson. These include developerfacing tools such as EriRoo (Coding Buddy), EricAI modelinference capabilities, and VS Code integrations.
We are looking for a Service Architect who combines deep architectural thinking with handson software development, security architecture, and automation. You will drive the design of secure, scalable, and developercentric GenAI services built on opensource frameworks and Ericsson's internal AI platforms.
What you will do
Architect and develop opensource based GenAI tools (autocomplete, chat, refactoring assistants, codeassist).
Contribute actively to the software stack: design, implementation, code reviews, test automation, packaging, and CI/CD flows.
Design and implement secure API integrations (REST) with EricAI backend services and internal tooling ecosystems.
Implement backend services in Python + FastAPI, including authentication/authorization via OAuth2.
Develop userfacing components in TypeScript + React, including VS Code extension UI/UX (chat panels, autocomplete, settings pages).
Apply secure coding practices across all components (SAST, dependency scanning, SBOM, secrets detection).
Design and maintain analytics and observability for developer tools using PostHog, ClickHouse, Grafana/Prometheus-hosted onprem with full privacy controls.
Ensure high reliability, security compliance, and efficient automation throughout the development lifecycle.
Collaborate across product, security, and platform teams to align architecture, standards, and roadmaps.
What you will bring
Proven experience contributing to FOSS projects (e.g., RooCode, Continue.dev), with the ability to rebase and extend upstream code while minimizing patch sets.
Strong programming skills in:
TypeScript + React (UI, VS Code webviews, developer workflows)
Python for backend services and tooling
FastAPI for lightweight, secure microservices
Experience with LLM inference pipelines, prompt processing, context windows, embeddings, and performance optimization.
Proficiency with PostgreSQL for metadata, session, or configuration storage.
Skilled in API integration (REST) with authentication via OAuth2 and secure token handling.
Deep understanding of frontend UX patterns for autocomplete, chat interfaces, and nonblocking AIdriven workflows.
Strong grasp of secure coding practices (SAST, dependency scanning, secret detection, SBOM generation).
Experience integrating analytics systems such as PostHog, ClickHouse, and Grafana/Prometheus in secure onprem environments.
Ability to design a centralized analytics architecture for VS Code extensions, including:
Event schema design
Privacypreserving telemetry
Access control, retention, aggregation, and governance
Understanding of how telemetry supports product iteration, performance analytics, and developerexperience insights.
Architect Profile
Deep endtoend understanding of how a GenAI developer tool works:
IDE client ↔ FOSS core ↔ modelserving backend ↔ analytics/observability stack.
Knowledge of internal Ericsson ecosystems and protocols:
EricAI, EricMCP, Hopsworks, Jira/Confluence integrations.
Ability to design for scalability, maintainability, and compliance, including secure data handling and FOSS licensing strategies.
Experience with network and infrastructure planning for secure, segmented deployments; API/interface governance and lifecycle management.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to guide engineering teams toward highquality architectural outcomes.
