Leidos is anticipating a new contract award with the Military Health System (MHS) Defense Health Agency (DHA) which consists of a world-wide network of military hospitals, and health clinics, supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) TRICARE system for uniformed services members and their families around the world. This new work is focused on the Technology Support Branch’s (TSB) – Flexible Agile Development Services (T-FADS) clinical systems and help support SDLC and sustainment requirements for the following systems:
- Data processing, data validation operations and maintenance of the Purchased Care Operating System (PCOS)
- Centralized Credentials Quality Assurance System (CCQAS),
- Defense Medical Human Resources System – internet (DMHRSi),
- Expense Assignment System IV (EAS IV)
- Protected Health Information Management Tool (PHIMT)
Specific knowledge and understanding of these core systems is a big plus for this position.
Position Description
- The IBM Database Engineer will be responsible for providing the technical support and database / software implementation for Sustainment, Development and Testing environments on the IBM’s AIX® proprietary Unix operating system related to T-FADS systems in Production and the SDLC environments.
- Experience with DB2 Universal Database Enterprise-Extended Edition (DB2 UDB EEE) which is a parallel relational database management system that supports large databases for Business Intelligence Application Databases.
- Experience with both shell scripting and programming and AWK UNIX tools for processing text files.
- Support direct communication and collaboration with ALL members of the Team, including issue management support, clarification and prioritization of production onsite tasks, reports and site summaries.
- May communicate with parties external to the organization (e.g., sub-contractors, vendors, government, etc.).
- Works to influence project/team leaders regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.
- Provide Engineering Tier 3 assistance in the management of Help Desk related issues in production.
- Solid understanding of T-FADS server technologies including experience with traditional software delivery and application installation processes and configurations.
- Solid understanding of UNIX and server technologies including experience with traditional software delivery and application installation processes and configurations.
- Works directly with IT teams for implementation and configurations of both client desktops and servers.
- Provides IT system support, administration and maintenance for all Development and Testing environments related to T-FADS.
- Provides System Database and Engineering Analysis for the review of system design specifications.
- Works to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables.
- Responsible for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas.
- Manages large projects or processes within T-FADS.
- Develops solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple area or disciplines.
- Regularly employs ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems to achieve functional objectives.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree and 8 – 12 years of prior IT and Systems Database Engineering or master’s with 6 – 10 years of IT and Systems Database Engineering. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.
- Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
- Requires strong writing skills and an attention to detail.
- Excellent communications skills
- Technical Architecture Background and Experience
- Expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of UNIX (IBM-AIX preferred)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008
- Knowledge of IBM Database DB2
- Knowledge of basic programming or scripting
- T-FADS System experience and architecture.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
