The Workplace Services Desktop Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving end-user computing platforms that enable a secure, efficient, and modern digital workplace. This role focuses on endpoint reliability, device management, virtual desktop infrastructure, security compliance, application delivery, and day-to-day operational support across physical devices, virtual desktops, operating systems, and collaboration technologies.
As an intermediate-level engineer, this position handles routine to moderately complex endpoint and desktop engineering work, partners with Security, Infrastructure, Networking, and Operations teams, and contributes to service improvements and technical standards. This role may provide guidance to less experienced team members while continuing to build deeper technical expertise.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Technical Execution & Collaboration
- Support the resolution of endpoint and desktop engineering issues, escalating complex problems when needed
- Use structured troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis to resolve recurring and high-impact problems
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network, Security, and Service Desk teams to support reliable service delivery
- Participate in change, release, and incident review processes to help maintain platform stability
- Contribute to endpoint platform improvements, standards, and roadmap discussions
- Share knowledge with team members and contribute to a collaborative support environment
- Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, engineering standards, and architectural documentation
- Ensure operational documentation is accurate, scalable, and optimized for offshore teams
- Support knowledge transfer initiatives across onshore/offshore delivery resources
- Endpoint Platform Engineering
- Support, standardize, and maintain enterprise endpoint platforms including Windows and mobile devices
- Manage OS deployment, provisioning, and enrollment workflows for modern workplace environments
- Support Windows OS lifecycle activities, including feature updates, version migrations, and major upgrades
- Maintain hardware standards including BIOS, firmware, and driver management
- Help maintain endpoint performance, reliability, and user experience at enterprise scale
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure & Application Delivery
- Support virtual desktop platforms such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, or VMware Horizon, including image readiness, session host health, profile management, and user experience validation
- Assist with golden image creation, maintenance, testing, and deployment for virtual desktop environments
- Coordinate application packaging, compatibility testing, and delivery methods for virtual desktop and remote application use cases
- Monitor and troubleshoot VDI performance issues related to login duration, profile load, application launch, connectivity, and resource utilization
- Partner with Infrastructure, Networking, Security, and Application teams to support scalable, secure, and reliable virtual desktop services
- Contribute to VDI standards, operational runbooks, support models, and lifecycle processes for images, host pools, applications, and user assignments
- Security, Compliance & Vulnerability Management
- Collaborate with Patch Management and InfoSec teams to remediate endpoint vulnerabilities
- Support device compliance policies, secure baselines, and disk encryption standards
- Support security initiatives by ensuring endpoint configurations align with corporate and regulatory requirements
- Automation & Tooling
- Create and maintain scripts and automated workflows (PowerShell preferred) to streamline operational tasks
- Help reduce manual processes through automation, standardization, and continuous improvement
- Engineer and support solutions using Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management platforms

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in Endpoint Engineering, Desktop Engineering, or Workplace Services
- Hands-on experience with Windows OS lifecycle management in an enterprise environment
- Experience with SCCM / ConfigMgr
- Experience supporting virtual desktop technologies such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, or VMware Horizon
- Experience with Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management technologies
- Experience with application packaging, image management, and profile or user environment management for virtual desktop platforms
- Experience supporting hybrid and remote workforce environments
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation
- Understanding of endpoint security principles and secure configuration baselines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell
- Experience working within offshore/onshore delivery models
- Understanding of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management Exposure to Tanium or similar endpoint management/security platforms
