Turn complex hardware into robust board designs
Join one of Ericsson's PCB/PBA Development teams in BNEW RCE and help bring advanced hardware platforms to life. You'll design and maintain board-level schematics, integrating ASICs and FPGAs created by Ericsson's specialist development teams.
You'll work across disciplines-with ASIC and FPGA developers, layout engineers, and colleagues close to hardware and software-to turn component-level designs into reliable board implementations. You'll also contribute to verification activities across the schematic and layout boundary.
What you'll do
• Design and maintain schematics for hardware blocks in PCB/PBA products. • Integrate ASICs and/or FPGAs into board-level designs, working with the teams that develop them. • Collaborate with specialist teams, layout engineers, and hardware-near-software colleagues throughout development. • Support verification involving schematics and layout, together with the relevant experts. • Contribute to new platform development and the maintenance of released products. • Take ownership of design tasks, solve detailed hardware challenges, and improve engineering quality and efficiency-including through thoughtful use of AI and automation.
What you'll bring
• Practical experience creating hardware schematics and a solid understanding of the hardware development flow. • Experience with board-level design, component integration, and preparing designs for layout. • A general understanding of ASIC and/or FPGA technologies, and the ability to work effectively with the teams that develop them. Deep ASIC or FPGA logic-design expertise is not required. • An understanding of JTAG. • Clear communication and a collaborative, proactive approach to problem-solving. • A structured way of working, a sense of ownership, and curiosity about using AI tools to simplify repetitive engineering tasks.
What you'll gain
You'll work across the hardware development lifecycle, collaborating with teams responsible for silicon, programmable logic, board design, layout, and hardware-near software. You'll have the opportunity to deepen your hardware design expertise, broaden into platform or system design, and take on greater technical ownership over time.
A note on the role
This is a schematic and board-level hardware design role-not an ASIC or FPGA logic-design position. You don't need to be a specialist in ASIC or FPGA development; a general understanding is enough to collaborate with the experts and contribute to verification across schematics and layout
