Job Description
The Equipment Engineer is responsible for managing manufacturing equipment to achieve required production, quality, and cost targets within their assigned area. The role carries accountability for maintaining required equipment performance.
In addition, the Equipment Engineer builds strong collaboration with related departments to maximize area output, reduce cycle time, and optimize resource efficiency. They ensure stable quality by maintaining proper equipment conditions and proactively identifying and eliminating production constraints through broad cross-functional communication.
Key Responsibilities
Make judgments and solve problems in non-routine situations by applying learned technical concepts with guidance.
Resolve complex issues that require critical decision-making and initiative.
Apply specialized technical knowledge to solve problems and implement preventive measures.
Provide guidance and instruction to technicians on advanced issues and challenges.
Plan and execute improvements related to preventive maintenance and other non-routine tasks.
Lead or train other team members within the team.
Make decisions across a wide range of responsibilities.
Exercise judgment within a defined scope that may impact the quality of assigned work.
Develop a strong understanding of systems, identify issues, collaborate with Day Engineering, propose improvement actions, and drive resolution.
Contribute to area improvements through proactive proposals based on TPM activities.
Propose and implement 6S3R improvements related to workplace environment for equipment installation, modification, relocation, and removal, contributing to improvements within a defined area.
Actively use OPL (One Point Lesson) and CIP (Continuous Improvement Process) to share team knowledge and enhance area capability.
Analyze data based on area IPO/KPI metrics and implement and deploy CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
AI & Digital Transformation
Leverage AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and digital technologies to improve equipment performance, accelerate problem solving, and drive operational excellence.
Utilize AI-assisted insights and data-driven methodologies to identify improvement opportunities, optimize maintenance strategies, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Continuously develop AI and digital skills to improve decision-making, productivity, and business outcomes while supporting Micron's AI transformation initiatives.

Skills Required
- Experience managing and maintaining high-volume manufacturing equipment
- Proven ability to lead or train technicians and guide advanced troubleshooting
- Experience planning and executing preventive maintenance and equipment improvements
- Familiarity with TPM, OPL, CIP, CAPA, and 6S3R continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to analyze equipment KPI/IPO data and implement corrective actions
- Experience using AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, or digital technologies for equipment optimization
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with production and engineering teams
