HV Operative
Knebworth – Covering Sites Nationwide

We are seeking an experienced High Voltage (HV) Operative to join our growing team to deliver electrical network connection projects nationwide. As an established Independent Connections Provider (ICP), we design and construct contestable connections up to 11kv for a range of clients across renewable, commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

In this role you will be responsible for carrying out safe and efficient installation, testing and commissioning of HV and LV network assets in accordance with project scope and industry regulations. You will work closely with our Projects teams, engineers and DNO/INDO representatives to deliver high-quality works to program.  

More about the role:

  • Undertake construction, commissioning and maintenance activities on ICP contestable works.
  • Work on a variety of sites including substations, commercial developments, renewables and private networks.
  • Maintain accurate site records including test sheets, as-built information and daily site documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, engineers, project manager and third parties to support successful project delivery.
  • Ability to undertake hands on maintenance activities and manage remedial / project works in various locations throughout the UK.
  • Organise and execute HV & LV switching, isolation, earthing, identification of the point of work and issue safety documentation duties on HV networks.
  • Ensure compliance with DNO/IDNO standards and project specific method statements.

Qualifications

  • Experience of providing the above duties in similar networks.
  • Authorised as a 11kV AP able to work on networks.
  • Prepared to travel nationwide with some overnight stays required.
  • Ability to undertake operational, technical and safety from the system duties with the construction, maintenance and commissioning of projects.
  • Testing and commissioning of cables and equipment.
  • Positive safety culture and strong technical awareness.
  • Sound technical knowledge to support direct labour teams.
  • DNO Authorisation – up to 11kV is advantageous.
  • Possession of a current AP certificate with existing IDNO’s.
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering.
  • EUSR SHEA Power Card.
  • Cable Identification.
  • Street Works Qualification.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS or other safety related qualification.
  • 5 years + experience in a similar industry.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Experience as NERS Assessing / Authorising Officer hugely advantageous.
