About The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is the national engine of campaigners and organizers powering the progressive movement. With an on-the-ground presence in communities all across the country, our world-class team runs successful civic engagement campaigns on behalf of progressive organizations and candidates to build a future that is fairer, cleaner, safer, and more peaceful for everyone. 

The Human Resources Manager oversees our HR operations and administration. They are an experienced people and project manager who will work with our leadership to ensure policies and procedures are operationalized. The Human Resources Manager creates and manages systems for tracking employee data, information requests, and more. This person will also support supervisors in investigating issues and solving problems. This is a full time exempt position for someone who loves efficient, people-oriented systems. The position is remote within the U.S. and may involve 0-10 days per year of travel. 

Unfortunately we can’t hire people who would be working from these states: Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Employee Relations

  • Serve as first point of contact for all employees needing HR assistance
  • Support and advise program leadership in handling sensitive or difficult employee situations and legal or management questions
  • Conduct consultations with employees
  • Manage Employee Relations Consultants
  • Manage process of approving recommended action plans and making sure they are carried out
  • Handle all-staff communications regarding pay, benefits, and policies

People Operations

  • Process employment verifications, accommodation requests, paid family leave requests, unemployment claims, withholding orders, workers compensation claims
  • Maintain thousands of employee files and HR documentation
  • Regularly review policies and procedures to maintain compliance and recommend changes when necessary
  • Operationalize those policies and procedures with other departments
  • Manage staff evaluation process
  • Manage HR Administrators at peak times

Reporting

  • Track data on employee demographics and HR communications
  • Produce regular reports to leadership regarding HR Department priorities, trends, and recommendations

Qualifications

Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered:

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to treat staff with empathy and respect
  • Experience training and managing staff 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience of getting employees to understand and operationalize policies and procedures (ideally within teams of people they do not oversee)
  • Process oriented with an eye towards improving, using and maintaining effective and efficient systems
  • Problem solver that digs in and takes ownership 
  • Experience staying calm and clear-headed in stressful situations

The strongest candidates will also have some or all of the following qualifications:

  • Experience running high-pressure field campaigns for campaigns or causes
  • Trained in de-escalation strategies 
  • Track record of centering equity and justice in your work
  • Experience managing up and across, and supporting staff you do not directly supervise

Compensation:

This is a salaried position with a range of $55,000-$80,000 per year depending on experience and qualifications. This is a Specialist level position reporting to The Director of Human Resources with an anticipated end date of November 15, 2026. We offer benefits including fully paid health care, vacation and sick days.
