The Harris Poll is in search of an Ontario based Human Resources Manager who will find joy in creating order and structure within an entrepreneurial organization at a time of change. The HR Manger will serve an international population with a focus leading Canadian employment needs, coaching, process improvement, and change management. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the ideal candidate will be confident handling multiple priorities, proactively and methodically assessing areas of need to implement processes and collaborate with multiple stakeholders of varying departments and positions.


The ideal candidate approaches their work with a proactive, problem-solving attitude to apply their knowledge of Canadian HR procedures and policies to a variety of HR projects. A high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to balance their stellar communication and people skills with the ability to project manage in a timely and organized fashion is needed. The HR Manager will embrace the opportunity to touch many facets of HR while managing one direct report and collaborating with colleagues across multiple countries to deliver on impactful HR initiatives. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Canadian HR expert with the ability to provide information on laws and regulations that affect HR practices; international experience a plus
  • Act as the first point of contact for staff across a dynamic organization
  • Lead HR programs and manage change initiatives that best align with a positive, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality work, and collaboration;
  • Manage complex projects, develop and manage project plans, monitor progress, and deliver on time; examples may include career pathing, performance and development initiatives, compensation incentive development, etc.
  • Design, develop and deliver tailored employee experience initiatives to support business units’ needs in collaboration with broader team;
  • Lead best in class HR practices and objectives, ensuring alignment with Company strategy in the areas of employee relations, performance management, compensation, workforce planning, and training and development;
  • Partner with the business leaders to achieve business objectives by identifying human resources and organizational development opportunities ;
  • Assist in the development, documentation, and improvement of processes, procedures, and policies; proactively evaluate and recommend updates and improvements based on best practices, current regulations and company needs;
  • Analyze HR metrics and data to make informed decisions and improvements;
  • Develop trusting relationships to coach and consult leaders in the areas of leadership development, talent and performance management, change and people management issues;
  • Balance the ability to coach employees on personal and professional development and goal attainment as employee advocate while maintain objective of business needs and reasoning;
  • Actively lead and promote culture and engagement initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

  • Expertise in Canadian HR legislation with experience in employee relations
  • A team player with the ability to work autonomously and take initiative
  • Embraces a high touch approach with staff to support a positive and engaging employee experience
  • Highly organized balanced with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Demonstrated success coaching and mentoring team members in a remote work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high level of EQ
  • Strong ability to navigate the Microsoft Suite of products as well as HR Software with confidence to learn new systems 

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Canadian HR experience, ideally in a variety of disciplines
  • Professional Services experience required
  • Experience using UKG highly desirable
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • CHRP/CHRL designation preferred
  • Experience in a public entity a bonus
