This position is based at Sourcebooks' Naperville, IL headquarters, this hybrid role requires in-office presence three days per week and is not eligible for fully remote work.
This is an exempt, salaried position with an annual salary range of $72,000 - $75,000. We determine starting pay based on job-related factors such as geographic location, market conditions, experience, and education — ensuring fair, competitive compensation for both company and candidate.
What you'll do:
- Serve as a trusted HR point of contact, providing day-to-day support and guidance across the employee lifecycle, including investigations and corrective action.
- Support compliance across Sourcebooks' 20-state footprint — handbook review, required postings, notices, and leave law tracking (FMLA, ADA, state sick and parental leave).
- Assist with EEO-1 and other compliance reporting, and monitor employment law changes affecting policy.
- Partner with the Sr. Director of HR on organizational development, including org chart maintenance, title standardization, and role structure projects.
- Support compensation reviews, market benchmarking, and the annual compensation and bonus cycles.
- Maintain HR data integrity in ADP and support compliance, compensation, and headcount reporting.
- Support recruiting and onboarding, including job description review and new hire coordination.
- Draft HR correspondence such as promotion letters and policy communications.
- Participate in HR team meetings, trainings, and projects as needed.
- 4–7 years of HR Generalist experience, ideally including employee relations, investigations, or corrective action.
- Working knowledge of employment law fundamentals (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, state leave requirements).
- Exposure to compensation processes, job evaluation, or organizational design.
- A collaborative, team-first mindset — you thrive in an agile, fast-moving environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 (especially Excel); ADP or similar HRIS experience helpful.
- Adaptable and curious about AI tools, with a willingness to learn and apply them to streamline HR processes and improve efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
