Human Resources Generalist
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a broad range of Human Resources programs and processes, including employee relations, staffing, benefits, orientation, training, compensation, attendance support, claims management, and HR administration. This role supports managers and employees by providing guidance on HR policies, programs, and procedures while helping to foster a positive, compliant, and engaged workplace environment. The HR Generalist also plays an important role in employee retention, onboarding, performance management support, and maintaining accurate HR information in Oracle.
Key Accountabilities
- Advise managers and employees on HR policies, compensation and benefits programs, employee relations matters, and legislative requirements.
- Support recruitment activities, including resume review, interview scheduling, reference checks, offer letters, and onboarding.
- Support employee relations by responding to employee inquiries, assisting with workplace concerns, and providing guidance to supervisors and employees.
- Assist with claims management, leave administration, WSIB activities, disability management, and return-to-work programs.
- Support performance management processes, including corrective counselling, investigations, terminations, and related HR documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR information systems while supporting reporting and compliance requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or degree in business administration, industrial relations, human resources, or a related program.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a Human Resources role.
- Ability to read and interpret legislative documents related to human rights, labour standards, and other employment-related requirements, and communicate related information to employees as required.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with human resources information systems would be an asset.
- Demonstrated organizational, planning, time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines and willingness to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
- Strong analytical skills, sound business judgment, proven documentation skills, and attention to detail.
- Confidentiality, discretion, integrity, and judgment are critical.
