SUMMARY:

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist runs the daily functions of the Human Resource department. The HR Generalist provides support for the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist responsibilities consist of the following functional areas: Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, organizational development, and employment.


JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborates in the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the company's strategic goals.
  • Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
  • Maintains compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements, including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth.
  • Manage and collaborate with departmental managers for understanding skills and competencies for open positions. Manages the onboarding of candidates through the new hire process to include post-onboarding tasks. Coordinates and presents new hire orientation to hired candidates.
  • Oversees and maintains HRIS, including creation, distribution of project initiatives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing on employee changes in the HRIS system to include status changes, terminations, etc.
  • Maintains employee-related databases. Prepares and analyzes reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company. Prepares periodic reports for management, as required or requested.
  • Manage and collaborates day-to-day benefits administration services, including enrollments, benefit changes, payroll deductions, wellness initiatives and reviews monthly invoices.
  • Designs and implements the performance appraisal, performance discussion and personnel action form system and maintains the system to employee file system.
  • Supports managers and employees with performance-related issues, including discipline documentation, PIPs and training on inputting them in the HRIS system.
  • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer/employee relationship and promote high employee morale and motivation
  • Creates company-wide surveys for distribution to employees for insight into the workforce to include benefits, engagement, feedback, etc.
  • Creates Employee Recognition Programs, implements continuation procedures and manages the delivery of awards, birthday cards, anniversary cards, etc.
  • Leads the Engagement Committee to enhance Employee Morale & Engagement.
  • Partners with payroll for processing and providing backup support documentation for earnings related to Human Resources.
  • Serves as a Point of Contact for employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, supervisors, referring to complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Reviews, tracks and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training. This may include anti-harassment training, safety training, bank-related annual training assignments and any certifications.
  • Contributes to HR staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Maintains employee files and disposition of files when needed.
  • Creates content and manages the HR Intranet Page.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office Suite, and related business and communication tools.
  • High level of professionalism and proven track record of confidentiality.
  • Strong Internal Customer Service Skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to deal with interruptions, changing priorities, and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or certification in Human Resources or related.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, not required.
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
