COME BUILD THE EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE AT FAIRSQUARE

FairSquare is the family of brands behind National Funding and SmallBusinessLoans — lenders that get capital into the hands of small business owners who keep their communities running. We are a company where a coordinator is not a pair of hands. You will be in the room where onboarding gets redesigned, where sales compensation gets calculated, and where the culture of the place actually gets built.

Our HR team is small, visible and trusted. Over the past two years this role helped rebuild new hire orientation from the ground up, took ownership of monthly sales commission reporting across our brands, and helped launch employee "Pods" that now shape how people connect across departments. We are looking for the next person to pick that up and make it their own.

If you are early in your HR career and want range — people, process, systems and numbers — rather than a narrow lane, read on.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

Reporting to the HR Manager, you will be the connective tissue of the HR function. No two weeks look the same, but the work falls into five areas.

Own the first impression. Coordinate onboarding end to end — offer paperwork and e-signature routing, system access requests with IT, workstation and Day 1 logistics — then co-lead our two-day new hire orientation. Our orientation is not a slide deck read aloud: new hires learn our family of brands, our products, the customer journey and how a deal actually flows through the company. You will keep it sharp, keep it welcoming, and keep improving it.

Administer sales compensation and commissions. Partner with Finance, Sales leadership and our brand partners to prepare and reconcile monthly commission reporting, maintain commission support documentation, draft and template sales compensation plan agreements, route them for signature, and calculate prorated or final payouts when a rep joins, moves or separates. This work is deadline-driven, detail-heavy, and highly visible to the sales floor.

Keep payroll and benefits running clean. Support each payroll cycle — review and confirm data, chase down discrepancies, flag timekeeping and meal-period issues before they become compliance problems — and assist with benefits administration, enrollments and life-event changes.

Be the source of truth for people data. Maintain employee records and HRIS data with real accuracy, produce the monthly headcount report and other recurring people reporting, and handle internal and external HR inquiries with discretion. A lot of decisions get made off your numbers.

Make this a place people want to be. Help run employee engagement — recognition and awards programs, our employee Pods, company events, charity teams and potlucks, service anniversaries. Plenty of room here to bring your own ideas. You will also back up our front desk team, covering lunches and reception when needed.

• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and compensation information without exception.

• Stay current on HR trends, employment law and best practices — and tell us when we should be doing something differently.

• Other duties as assigned — in a team this size, that genuinely means opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 1–3 years as an HR coordinator, HR assistant, or in a related administrative role.

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is highly preferred.

• Meticulous attention to detail. Commission and payroll work is unforgiving of rounding errors.

• Strong Excel skills and genuine comfort in business systems. Paycom HRIS experience is a plus; exposure to e-signature tools, SharePoint/intranet platforms or BI dashboards is a bonus.

• Excellent written and verbal communication — you will present to new hires, email the whole company, and push back politely on a VP when a number looks wrong.

• Grace under deadline pressure, and the judgment to know what escalates and what you can solve yourself.

• Working knowledge of labor law and employment equity regulations; California wage-and-hour exposure is especially valuable.

• Discretion. You will see compensation, performance and separation information before almost anyone else.

WHY THIS ROLE IS WORTH YOUR TIME

• Visibility. You will work directly with the HR Manager, Finance, Sales leadership and Training — not three layers below them.

• Breadth. Onboarding, payroll, benefits, compliance, sales compensation, reporting and culture in one seat. That is an unusually strong foundation for an HR generalist or HRIS/compensation career path.

• Real ownership. The recurring processes in this role are yours. If you find a better way to run them, we want to hear it — several of our current processes exist because the person in this seat proposed them.

• Mission. Our customers are small business owners. The work has a point.

BENEFITS

Medical / dental / vision, 401(k) and match, PTO and holidays, recognition programs, professional development.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Temperature-controlled office environment. Extended periods seated at a desk working across multiple monitors. Occasional lifting of boxes in the 5–10 lb range.
