The Human Resources Assistant-Employee Relations will be the first point of contact for coaching, resolving conflict and issuing discipline for all employees. The Human Resources Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining clear records of all disciplinary and coaching processes. This role will work closely with our labor relations department and training department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as the first contact for employees or managers expressing concerns and determine if an investigation is needed or if coaching and training is needed.
  • Where required, conduct investigations into grievances and complaints, including workplace conflicts, harassment allegations, and policy violations, to determine facts and recommend appropriate solutions. 
  • Enforce progressive discipline and use good judgement around severity of issues. Escalate to CHRO as required.
  • Advise managers and employees on company policies and procedures to ensure proper implementation and address concerns. 
  • Partner closely with training to identify trends in employee relations and develop pro active strategies to Develop and deliver training programs to managers and employees on topics such as workplace conflict resolution, anti-harassment policies, and effective communication. 
  • Collaborate with management to address employee performance issues, including coaching and disciplinary actions, while adhering to company policies. 
  • Maintain excellent records of all ER related conversations.
  • Draft communication, including discipline recommendations and investigation summaries.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws, including ADA, FMLA, FLSA.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 1-2 years related experience in ER and conflict resolution
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - bi-lingual skills a plus
  • Capacity to use good judgment in assessing situations involving conflict
  • Ability to de-escalate emotionally charged situations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with other MS Office applications
  • Strong technological aptitude
  • Must be able to work well in a high-pressure/fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of personality types with poise and professionalism
  • Must be able to learn and adapt to a changing work environment
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion
  • Must be able to work successfully both independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear
  • Ability to work in-office 3-4 days a week
