$43,169.36 - $88,454.34DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK
Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources and Workday Coordinator performs professional-level work in support of key human resources functions including recruitment, testing, payroll processing, and Workday system coordination. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance, data integrity, and efficiency in the City’s HR operations. The incumbent must demonstrate sound judgment, technical proficiency, and the ability to coordinate across departments including Finance and IT, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all activities.
ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The following illustrates examples of some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Human Resources and Workday Coordinator. There may be other essential functions, not listed below, in order to accomplish the tasks as presented by the Director of Human Resources.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of records of employee data within the Workday system.
• Support the implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of Workday updates and configurations.
• Maintain eligibility lists, job descriptions, examination records, and other confidential HR documents.
• Process new hire onboardings.
• Coordinate recruitment efforts including job postings, candidate outreach, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking.
• Generate reports and data analysis using Workday and Excel.
• Assist as a liaison between HR, Finance, IT, and external Workday support to resolve system-related issues.
• Provide training and support to HR staff and department users on Workday functions and best practices.
• Follow compliance with City policies, Civil Service Rules, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Attend job fairs and recruitment events on behalf of the City; create and distribute job announcements and advertisements.
• Conduct City-wide training sessions on Workday to support employee development and system proficiency.
• Prepare and coordinate pre-employment and promotional testing materials; administer and proctor exams as necessary.
• Responsible for reviewing and ensuring that all pertinent payroll information has been entered and is accurate for accounting/payroll, including payroll authorizations for merit step increases, end of probations, longevity steps, and new hires.
• Perform other related duties as required at the direction of the Human Resources Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, labor laws, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Proficient in Workday payroll and financial systems, reporting tools, and data management.
• Knowledge of payroll principles, system administration, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) best practices.
• Proficiency in Workday HRIS modules and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Ability to prepare technical, detailed, and confidential reports and correspondence.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
• Ability to analyze data, resolve issues, and recommend process improvements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must have ability to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, stand, hear, hands to finger dexterity, handle, feel or operate objects, read and write English.
• Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment; such as but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier and fax machines.
• Work is performed indoors within a quiet to moderately noisy environment.
• Must be able to lift, carry and or push articles weighing up to 20 lbs.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, including experience with payroll and HRIS administration, preferably in a municipal environment.
• SHRM Certification preferred.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.
