At PLACE, we're building a category-defining company at the intersection of real estate, technology, business services, and the consumer. As a profitable, hypergrowth startup on the path to an IPO, our standards are high, our team is scrappy, and our commitment is to execute the best work of our lives.

This is YOUR CHANCE to be at the heart of a People Operations function that powers a company scaling rapidly and innovating boldly. As our HR Administrator, you'll partner with the Payroll Manager and HR Business Partner to keep our people operations running smoothly — from payroll and benefits to onboarding and employee experience. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love solving problems, and believe operations excellence is a competitive advantage, this is your PLACE.

Who Develops You

Payroll Manager & HR Business Partner

What You're Great At

You are the kind of person who finds satisfaction in getting the details exactly right. You're organized, discreet, and genuinely enjoy helping people navigate HR questions with clarity and professionalism. You're comfortable wearing multiple hats — one moment you're auditing payroll data, the next you're welcoming a new hire on their first day. You communicate with warmth, handle sensitive information with care, and you know how to prioritize when everything feels urgent. You're not just an administrator — you're a connector, a problem-solver, and a culture builder.

What You'll Do

  • Provide administrative support for payroll processing, including data entry, auditing employee records, and processing payroll changes accurately and on time.
  • Assist with benefits administration including enrollments, terminations, and responding to employee benefit questions with clarity and care.
  • Maintain HR records, prepare reports, and ensure data accuracy across HR systems.
  • Support new hire onboarding by assisting with offer letter creation, coordinating background checks, and delivering a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Own the Bellingham new hire welcome experience, making every new team member feel like they've arrived somewhere special.
  • Triage the HR shared mailbox, responding to routine inquiries and escalating complex questions to the right people.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for employees with questions on policies, procedures, and general HR topics.
  • Assist with compliance reporting and audits as needed.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition by building relationships in the Bellingham community to help develop local talent funnels.
  • Support HR projects, process improvements, and initiatives as assigned, always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to deliver great service.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure timely and accurate delivery of HR services across the organization.

What You Bring

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1–2 years of HR, payroll, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic HR principles, payroll processes, and benefits administration is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — professional, approachable, and clear.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with an HRIS (ADP, Workday, or similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment without dropping the ball.
  • A genuine customer-service orientation — you care about the employee experience, not just the transaction.
