Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Human Resources Director / HR Business Partner to lead and oversee all HR functions across the organization. The role will be responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives, driving workforce planning, strengthening organizational culture, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and supporting operational excellence within a fast-paced environment. The position requires a hands-on leader capable of partnering with senior management to enhance productivity, employee engagement, and overall business performance.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with overall business objectives
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on all human capital matters
- Lead workforce planning, succession planning, and talent pipeline development
- Oversee recruitment strategies to attract skilled technical and operational talent
- Ensure timely and effective hiring across all business functions
- Drive performance management systems and ensure alignment with business KPIs
- Implement employee engagement initiatives to improve retention and productivity
- Handle complex employee relations issues, including disciplinary and grievance matters
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, regulations, and internal HR policies
- Lead compensation and benefits strategy, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity
- Oversee payroll processes in coordination with Finance
- Develop and implement learning and development programs for workforce upskilling
- Support leadership development and coaching for managers and supervisors
- Drive organizational design and restructuring initiatives when required
- Monitor and improve HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and productivity
- Promote a strong safety culture in collaboration with relevant teams
- Ensure proper documentation, HR systems management, and record keeping
- Lead HR audits and ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance standards
- Manage and mentor the HR team across multiple locations or business units
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business needs
- Drive change management initiatives within a dynamic environment
- Support industrial relations, including union engagement where applicable
- Ensure effective communication across all levels of the organization
- Travel between locations and business units as required
Requirements
- Minimum 10–15+ years of progressive HR experience
- Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role such as HR Director or HR Business Partner
- Strong understanding of labor laws, industrial relations, and compliance requirements
- Experience managing large and diverse workforces
- Demonstrated ability to align HR strategy with business and operational goals
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in performance management, talent development, and succession planning
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English; Swahili is highly preferred
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Experience in managing change and organizational transformation initiatives
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Willingness to travel across different operational locations
