We are seeking an HSE Specialist to join the HSE Support team at National Oilwell Varco, L.P. In this role, you will help maintain and strengthen our health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs by supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of our HSE management system. You will identify and mitigate workplace risks, promote a culture of safety, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards while partnering with employees and leadership to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Work Location: This is an onsite position based at National Oilwell Varco, L.P., 1200 Cypress Creek Road, Cedar Park, TX 78613, United States

  • Drive the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the facility's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management System.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assess workplace hazards and HSE-related risks, developing and implementing effective preventive and corrective control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements, as well as company policies and standards.
  • Conduct routine HSE audits, inspections, and workplace assessments to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, near-misses, and environmental events, prepare detailed reports, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to develop, deliver, and continuously improve HSE training and awareness programs.
  •  Maintain accurate HSE records, metrics, reports, permits, and documentation to support regulatory compliance and organizational reporting.
  • Lead and facilitate regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee engagement activities while providing HSE guidance to employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Monitor changes in HSE regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends, recommending improvements to programs and procedures as appropriate.
  • Support the development, implementation, and periodic testing of emergency response plans and business continuity initiatives.
  • Assist with environmental compliance activities, including waste management, air emissions, stormwater, hazardous materials, and other environmental programs as applicable.
  • Support management in achieving HSE performance objectives through data analysis, trend identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee involvement, hazard reporting, and continuous improvement across the facility.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and TCEQ regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in HSE management software and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement

Skills Required
