The HSE Specialist will join a team of HSE professionals responsible for the development, management and execution of Health, Safety, & Environmental programs at the site including the engagement of associates to influence and drive the HSE culture. The position reports directly to the site HSE Manager and will primarily focus on health and safety. The ideal candidate will be energetic, eager to learn and coach others, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate initiative, and be attentive to detail.
What are we looking for?
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or Related discipline.
- Strong safety regulatory knowledge (OSHA).
- 1-3 years experience implementing safety in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Requirements:
- ASP or CSP
- Experience with hazard recognition, behavioral-based safety, and job hazard analysis.
- Basic knowledge of food manufacturing and GMP.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Responsible for the implementation and deployment of all Company HSE Standards applicable to the site including lockout tag-out, working at heights, confined space entry, and powered industrial trucks.
- Ensure site maintains continuous “audit ready” state of compliance with company and governmental HSE Standards.
- Develops and delivers training to clearly communicate HSE expectations to site associates.
- Ensures investigation of all HSE related incidents utilizing specific tools to drive to root cause and identify corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborates with Occupation Health and Wellness Management team to ensure effective injury case management process is fully implemented, well understood and functioning as desired.
- Develops, delivers and participates in risk reduction reviews of process hazards and combustible dusts. Drives and participates in projects aimed at lowering risks associated with these activities.
- Supports site efforts to evaluate and improve Industrial Hygiene Risk including ergonomics, respirable dust, noise and chemical exposure. Coordinates all necessary IH and audiometric monitoring.
- Supports the overall site Contractor Safety program to reduce risks associated with construction and trade contractor activity. Ensures project Managers are accountable for proper management of contractors.
