What you will be doing

As a member of embark’s people team your overarching goal is to support the business in accomplishing our vision to be the best possible place for all embarkers to work.

Our people team accomplishes this by working with all other embark teams to ensure that every embarker feels cared for, is developed holistically (think professionally and personally) and has all the resources necessary to grow and tackle hard challenges while at embark. Throughout every embarker’s journey, from the moment we attract the future team member to the last day we wish them farewell, the people team strives to create an engaging experience that allows each embarker to flourish and do what they’re uniquely wired to do.


Your focus as the people development senior manager will be to create and deliver an unparalleled development program for our embarkers so that they grow and reach their full potential. Designing, creating and then implementing content for the various development pathways will be your main focus. With a digital first lens, you’ll deliver some trainings in person and some will be consumed on-demand. Our embarkers are thirsty for knowledge and we’re excited to create engaging and informative trainings for them. Whether we create the content in house or leverage existing third party content, your long term goal will be to create and curate a library of learning for all embarkers, so that we can continue to provide our clients with excellent service.


You’ll be both collaborating with other embarkers who are subject matter experts and drawing on concepts and principles from thought leaders outside embark.


Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with practice and internal function leaders to design, build, and implement embark’s personal development framework for all embarkers
  • Design competency models for all embark functions and roles
  • Coordinate with business leaders to design flexible development pathways that meet embarker’s unique needs
  • Collaborate with the people development team to elevate the coaching experience beyond industry norms
  • Collaborate with the people development team and practice leaders to streamline and enhance effective performance development processes for all internal functions
  • Coordinate with people experience and people operations team to ensure embarker’s development experience meets embark’s experience standards

What you'll bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Certifications in the development space a plus
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in a people development role
  • High emotional intelligence 
  • Highly collaborative and works well with all levels of experience across various business functions
  • Ability to create training content from scratch with little oversight
  • Desire to build out development frameworks and methodologies from the ground up
  • Desire to build and invest in internal relationships to better understand the needs of the business
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to translate business requirements into solutions
  • Ability to lead internal initiatives from initiation to completion
  • Prior experience in the professional services industry is a plus
  • Prior experience with LMS and other people performance management softwares is a plus
  • High level of integrity when handling confidential information
  • Proactive, self-directed approach and the ability to learn quickly with limited instruction
  • A growth mindset, positive mental attitude, the ability to ideate and a willingness to make mistakes fast and learn from them
