Manager, HR & Employee Experience

Location: Remote - USA

Moov is the payments processor devoted to delighting users. We help software companies add money movement to their products, letting the end-user drive how they pay and get paid.

As a company passionate about user experiences, our People Ops team focuses on creating an amazing brand experience and delighting employees through every step of the employment journey.

As Manager, HR & Employee Experience, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the employee lifecycle from onboarding to separation, and implementing practices and procedures to help drive engagement through each. You’ll stay up to speed on employment law, the changing HR landscape, workplace best practices and work closely with employees to design programs aimed at driving engagement and being a best place to work. Our ideal HR manager is equally excited about process and policy creation as they are the employee experience, taking significant pride in the development and ongoing management of each.

You will:

  • Own the employee experience from onboarding through separation, helping define, articulate, and execute strategies to help drive employee engagement
  • Partner with hiring managers, assist with ongoing manager training and hold them accountable for helping ensure a positive employee experience
  • Stay up to speed on employment law, the changing HR landscape and workplace best practices, sharing key insights to help inform Moov’s culture and future policy needs
  • Oversee the creation, implementation and ongoing review of workplace processes and policies required for Moov to operate both effectively and compliantly
  • Prepare and submit compliance reporting documents (e.g. PCI and SOC2) and oversee communication and implementation of all company training needs (security, anti-harassment, etc)
  • Develop and manage core people processes (e.g. onboarding, performance management, org change requests, offboarding, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate records in Moov’s HRIS system and provide reporting and analytics based on organizational needs to drive insights for decision making

  • Serve as primary HR point person for all personnel related matters and issues resolution
  • Handle inbound employee inquiries, and identify needs, process necessary transactions in Moov’s HRIS, Payroll and other systems, and escalate issues via routing to the appropriate partners and stakeholders
  • Create and maintain partnerships across the People Team, as well as department leadership, and serve as “voice of the people”, advocating for employees needs and gathering ongoing feedback and ideas to help strength Moov’s culture and make their experience seamless
  • Listen to team members, analyze feedback, and continuously look for ways to iterate on the employee experience across the full employee lifecycle
  • Research and scope new opportunities, tools and resources to help meet key business objectives
  • Take manual people processes and help create more efficient and scalable processes to support our quickly growing team
  • Help define and execute against quarterly OKRs, communicating progress weekly
  • Assist with All hands meetings, Lunch and Learns and the coordination of company-wide events (or geographical meet ups and team building events)
  • Be flexible and willing to help out in several different areas to ensure the broader People Team is successful in its goals

You have:

  • Proven experience as an HR/People Ops manager (at a high growth startup or supporting a fast-paced environment)
  • HR functional expertise; broad knowledge and experience in employment law matters, contingent workforce, compliance, benefits administration and remote work (ideally via a relevant certification program - e.g. SHRM, PHR, SPHR, etc)
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices, and modern workplace trends
  • Experience with managing employee lifecycle workflows (onboarding, performance cycles, leaves of absence and offboarding) and developing impactful programs to support each area, in compliance with applicable laws
  • Passionate about culture with demonstrated experience fostering a highly-engaged, high-performance culture
  • Experience using Google Suite, Slack, HRIS Systems (Gusto, BambooHR a plus), and ideally both using and implementing ATS (e.g. Greenhouse or Lever), LMS systems and other performance management or engagement related tools and platforms
  • Ability to autonomously drive and prioritize multiple initiatives alongside various teams and highly accountable with a bias towards action and delivering results
  • Comfort with ambiguity and just figuring it out as you go, while documenting new processes along the way
  • Experience troubleshooting and presenting solutions using both analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Insatiable curiosity with a bias towards learning and view feedback as a gift
  • Proactive in identifying new projects and ways to improve processes
  • Strong organizational, time management and problem solving skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Able to manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with strong support aptitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to build rapport and trust with people quickly

Advice:

If you are nervous about not having the right qualifications, apply anyway! We hire people, not job roles. We look for talent that will help us push boundaries, experiment, and bring in new ideas. That means caring more about qualities than qualifications.

One more thing:

Don’t go iron your clothes for your interview (do people still own irons?). We're all pretty casual here, so you can wear whatever you are most comfortable in.

Okay—last thing:

When you meet with us, have some concrete, tangible examples of when you’ve added value, improved something, created something, or done some fantastic, customer-centric work. We also want to learn about you as a person. If you want to know what it’s like working at Moov, check out stories from our employees.

PS:

Share our job roles with others! Wouldn’t it be nice to make new friends and bring over old friends? We think so.

An Insider's view of Moov Financial

What's something quirky about your company?

We use the Pecha Kucha story telling format (20 slides/20 seconds each) during monthly "UnbeMoovable" all team happy hours, to build relationships and really get to know one another...given we're a fully distributed team.

Steve

Sales

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

Slack reigns supreme for day-to-day communications, but Notion serves as a central hub for key artifacts, project updates, OKRs, task assignments, new hire onboarding, resources, etc. Think about 80% of the company would communicate entirely via memes if possible, and we have recurring weekly team stand ups and all company Google Meets as well.

Carrie

Chief People Officer

How does the company support your career growth?

One of our core values is driven by our passion for excellence and our commitment to lifelong learning. In addition to general payments or skills-based resources to help all new hires get ramped up quickly, we offer each employee a $1,500 annual learning stipend to use toward personal and professional development goals, which are set quarterly.

Bryan

Director of Marketing

What is your vision for the company?

Our vision is to give developers everywhere the ability to easily embed banking features into their products. And that building those experiences is a delight, not stressful. We sweat the details of money movement protocols, compliance, and risk so you don't have to. We want developers to build amazing new experiences, not attending banking school.

Wade

CEO

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Folks at Moov work hard but are incredibly respectful of each other's schedules outside of work. Being a fully remote company, people are also mindful of each other's time zones. I find myself feeling well taken care of and thankful that the company cares about our well-being outside of work so that we can feel and work our best on the job.
