Benefits Specialist

We’re looking for a Benefits Specialist to join the People Team and help take our benefits programs to the next level as we scale. The Benefits Specialist will maintain ownership of our benefits strategy and administration. We’re looking for someone who has the ability to handle numerous confidential priorities in a dynamic and growing environment; a strong multi-tasker seamlessly able to transition back and forth between tasks while maintaining a positive attitude and accuracy.
What You'll Own:
- Work with our best-in-class benefits broker to create compelling benefits and wellness plans that increase employee engagement, health, and retention
- Responsible for managing day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, voluntary benefits, flexible spending plan, 401k retirement plan)
- Process monthly carrier invoices by reporting out of the HRIS and partnering with vendors and payroll
- Responsible for regulatory filing and audit activity including 5500s and ACA reporting
- Manage new hire enrollment/end of employment termination of benefits/employee updates in our HRIS and vendors system
- Participate in HRIS-related projects and assist in the development of business processes and procedures. Recommend improvements to strategy and application use as needed
- Help coordinate company LOA programs (FMLA, Personal Leave, STD, LTD, Military, etc.), and work closely in conjunction with the HR team advising of employee status changes. Provide guidance to employees regarding leave of absence and disability. Work with third party administrator / payroll to ensure employees on leave are tracked and paid accurately
- Lead annual open enrollment activities, help maintain internal benefits website and internal wellness program updates
- Work with payroll to identify and resolve any benefit deduction issues and complete timely, accurate benefits reporting for payroll
- Create resources for managers to better understand our benefits philosophies and processes
- Identify market trends and develop plans for our benefits strategy and utilize multiple data sources to implement benefits best practices
What You’ll Need:
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant benefits processing experience and have a good working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA; experience with Namely HRIS a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including mastery of vlookup, pivot tables and basic formula functions
- Knowledge of best practices in the benefits space
- Customer service-oriented demeanor with the ability to meet employee expectations and process employee benefits in a very time sensitive manner
- Effective presentation skills, ability to perform and deliver excellent results with quick turnaround times
- Ability to be cross-functionally collaborative with employees and teams at all levels
