Summary Generated by Built In

The HR Supervisor – Immigration shapes an exceptional employee experience by leading EchoStar's in-house immigration and global mobility programs, combining deep hands-on expertise with an unwavering commitment to compliance. The role solves some of the organization's most complex people problems — guiding foreign national employees through US visa processes (H-1B, L-1, TN, F-1 OPT/STEM, O-1) and the employment-based Green Card journey (PERM, I-140, I-485) while mitigating legal and timing risk. It blends compassionate, high-touch employee care with sharp operational discipline, partnering closely with external legal counsel, internal HR teams, and hiring managers. For a leader who thrives on untangling intricate legal landscapes and developing a specialist team, this is a career-defining opportunity to help change the way the world communicates.

What Success Looks Like (Objectives):
  • Lead the in-house administration of immigration programs with hands-on expertise, ensuring compassionate support and a seamless employee experience during complex life events and permanent residency processes
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Immigration Specialists; conducting regular one-on-ones, quality reviews, and performance evaluations, and guiding them through complex visa cases, expiration tracking, and proactive renewals
  • Mentor Immigration Specialists in facilitating interactive discussions and implementing creative, compliant work authorization strategies
  • Partner cross-functionally to harmonize HR processes and maintain detailed compliance with all relevant US immigration laws and regulations
  • Use data and process mapping to identify efficiency opportunities, resolve operational bottlenecks, and enhance the employee journey; proactively identifying risks to candidate start dates or continued employment and involving external legal counsel when appropriate
  • Drive strategic planning and policy governance for the immigration program, partnering with business leaders on talent strategy and staffing needs while demonstrating executive presence across all levels of the organization

Core Skills, Competencies, and Key Experiences (What you’ll bring)
  • Strong foundational understanding of US visa types (H-1B, L-1, TN, F-1 OPT/STEM, O-1) and the employment-based Green Card process (PERM, I-140, I-485)
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with employees, people managers, and teams; understanding team dynamics, becoming a trusted partner, and using influence with stakeholders
  • Proven track record of building business acumen and applying business knowledge to problem-solving and making recommendations to leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal jargon into clear, reassuring language for employees at multiple levels
  • Ability to identify trends in data and observations, and comfort informing and partnering with appropriate stakeholders to make recommendations based on those trends
  • Adept at managing high volumes of cases, handling multiple competing deadlines in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with minimal daily oversight; uncompromising accuracy in data entry, document review, and compliance record-keeping; strong commitment to confidentiality and handling sensitive information with the utmost care

Additional qualifications successful candidates will typically have:

  • Experience supporting multiple employee types and multiple lines of business (i.e. operations, entry-level, professional, technology)
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial culture as well as a larger, established company
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g. Workday and Oracle) and standard office software, including the Google Suite (Google Sheets, Google Docs)

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview.
