At Michael Baker International, we know that a great employee experience starts long before a new hire's first day. We're looking for an experienced HR Specialist to lead our onboarding efforts and help create a seamless, welcoming experience that sets employees up for success from day one.
In this role, you'll be the driving force behind our onboarding program, partnering with hiring managers, recruiters, and new employees to ensure every transition into the organization is smooth, compliant, and engaging. While onboarding will be your primary focus, you'll also have opportunities to support a variety of HR initiatives across the employee lifecycle, making this an excellent role for an HR professional who enjoys both specialization and variety.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and manage end-to-end onboarding activities for new employees across the organization, potential travel to on-site locations for high-volume, quick-turn hiring initiatives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new hires, ensuring a positive and professional experience before and after their start date.
- Prepare and process employment documentation and HR transactions with a high level of accuracy.
- Partner with hiring managers, Talent Acquisition, IT, Facilities, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless onboarding execution.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state, and company onboarding requirements.
- Track onboarding metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and employee experience.
- Administer new hire welcome kit inventory and distribution.
- Support employee records management and HRIS data integrity.
- Assist with employee lifecycle activities such as offboarding, leave administration, benefits, employee relations, compliance initiatives, and other HR operational functions as needed.
- Contribute to process improvement projects that enhance service delivery and operational excellence within HR.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, with demonstrated experience coordinating employee onboarding or HR operations processes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Experience working with HRIS platforms (Oracle HCM) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proactive problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.

Compensation
The approximate compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $82,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
