The Role

Job Description
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a HR Specialist to be responsible for implementing key human resources functions within the Operations Service Center team. This role is primarily responsible for implementing HR initiatives and acts as a subject matter expect for requests and delivery. With customer service and quality being an important driver of this role you will be responsible for initiating and maintaining the service level across the team.
What You'll Do

  • Act as a back-up on the execution of the full lifecycle processes that support the employee experience; may provide ongoing support during peak volumes.
  • Provide escalation support for incoming tickets, emails, and phone calls to HR Operations; may act as back-up or provide ongoing support during peak volumes.
  • Promote an understanding of Employee Self Service (ESS) and Manager Self Service (MSS) capabilities and benefits across all levels of the company.
  • Create, maintain, and deliver ESS/MSS materials and trainings to HR, Business Leaders, People Leaders, and Employees.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement outsourcing or automation solutions for a variety of employee programs.
  • Maintain the tools, applications, and systems to track, measure, and facilitate HR Operations requests, workflows, and record-keeping.
  • Generate HR Operations metrics, reports, and dashboards to analyze transactional volume, service delivery, and process efficiency; compile into summaries and share with the HR Operations team.
  • Create and maintain process maps, procedures, workflows, and other operational documentation; conduct gap analysis to identify and recommend policy, process, procedure, or practice changes to reduce friction, increase efficiency, or enhance service delivery.
  • Lead end-to-end, single process improvement initiatives; work across the HR team and with other stakeholders from issue identification to solution execution.
  • Develop and execute communication materials that create awareness, generate excitement, or drive action.
  • Track and monitor project costs to ensure project expenses remain within budget.
  • Provide high-quality and reliable service delivery to the various teams within HR, managers, and employees.
  • Develop knowledge of HR practices with a focus on operational excellence through classes, reading, or other mechanisms. Participate in professional groups, meetings, and conferences as appropriate.


What You'll Need to Succeed
We're looking for someone who:

  • Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.


Your experience should include some or all of the following:

  • Proven experience in an HR Specialist of HR Generalist role.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases, employment law, and HR best practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio and related software.
  • Excellent active listening, and process improvement mindset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with reporting and data analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Additionally, you may have:

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
