Job Description

OTHON Engineering is currently seeking a part-time HR Intern / HR Coordinator for employment at our Houston, TX location. This position is 100% on-site and will report directly to the HR Manager.

We are looking for a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual who is interested in building a career in Human Resources. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to day-to-day HR operations while supporting a growing organization.

The applicant will be responsible for providing assistance to the HR Manager with activities including:

  • Assist with recruiting activities, including job postings, resume review, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
  • Support new hire onboarding, orientation, and completion of required employment documentation.
  • Assist with maintaining employee personnel files, HR records, and HRIS information accurately and confidentially.
  • Support benefits administration by assisting with employee communications, enrollment documentation, and recordkeeping.
  • Assist with payroll-related documentation, employee changes, and routine HR data entry as assigned.
  • Support annual performance review processes, training coordination, and employee communications.
  • Assist with tracking required forms, acknowledgments, certifications, and other HR compliance documentation.
  • Prepare HR letters, spreadsheets, reports, presentations, and other employee communications.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities and other HR initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee, payroll, benefits, and other sensitive information.

This position requires professionalism, discretion, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working closely with employees and management.

Minimum Skills and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Candidates with relevant HR coursework, internship experience, or SHRM , PHR certification are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interest in developing a career in Human Resources.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, follow through on tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Professional, dependable, and comfortable working with employees at different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site at OTHON's Houston office on a part-time schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous internship, administrative, recruiting, customer service, or office experience is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, applicant tracking, payroll, or performance management systems is a plus.
  • Interest in recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, payroll, compliance, and general HR operations.

Work Schedule and Location

  • Part-time position.
  • 100% on-site. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
  • Work schedule will be coordinated with the HR Manager based on business needs and the selected candidate's availability.
