THE OPPORTUNITY

The HR Generalist is a strategic business partner responsible for supporting plant and organizational initiatives while driving workforce effectiveness through best-in-class human resources practices. With a strong focus on performance management, this role partners closely with leaders to coach, develop, and enhance employee performance, facilitate the performance review process, and support talent development initiatives across the organization.

As an integral member of the HR team, the HR Generalist collaborates with operations leadership and cross-functional teams to standardize HR processes, promote employee engagement, ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies, and foster a high-performance culture. This role also provides guidance on employee relations, performance improvement, succession planning, and organizational development, contributing to the overall success of the business through proactive partnership, communication, and continuous improvement.

THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION IN OUR PORTSMOUTH, NH OFFICE

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers, fostering strong working relationships and providing day-to-day HR support.

  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal stakeholders to align HR strategies with business objectives.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to supervisors on employee relations, performance management, and HR best practices.
  • Maintain and optimize HRIS platforms
  • Manage employee data, workflows, and system configurations
  • Participate in the organization's performance management cycle, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, annual performance evaluations.
  • Partner with managers to establish measurable performance objectives aligned with business goals.
  • Coach leaders on performance conversations, employee development, and addressing performance concerns.
  • Analyze performance data and trends to identify opportunities for improving employee engagement, productivity, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Assist leadership in identifying high-potential employees, developing succession plans, and creating career path frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain performance management tools, templates, and resources to enhance the employee and manager experience.
  • Deliver training to leaders and employees on performance management processes, feedback techniques, and goal setting.
  • Partner with leadership to recruit and retain key talent critical to business success.
  • Identify and automate manual HR processes
  • Develop SOPs and user documentation
  • Support for payroll processing as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, business, information systems, or experience in a related field
  • 5+ years of HR experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Experience coaching leaders through complex performance and employee relations matters.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with performance management platforms is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR metrics and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business, information systems, or equivalent experience
  • 3-6+ years of HR experience
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms and administration
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills
  • Knowledge of HR compliance and best practices
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
  • Experience with process improvement and HR process automation
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to support payroll processing as needed
