Job Description

The HR Generalist – Immigration, Global Mobility & Compliance is a 12-month temporary assignment responsible for supporting a broad range of Human Relations functions while serving as the primary resource for employment-based immigration, global mobility, compliance, and employee services programs. This role partners closely with employees, managers, external immigration counsel, relocation providers, and HR colleagues to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies while delivering an exceptional employee experience.

The position combines traditional HR generalist responsibilities with specialized expertise in immigration, employee mobility, regulatory compliance, and HR operations support. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

 

Immigration & Global Mobility

  • Manage and coordinate employment-based immigration cases, including H-1B, L-1, TN, E-2, E-3, PERM, I-140, Adjustment of Status, and related work authorization processes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between employees, managers, external immigration counsel, and government agencies.
  • Track visa expiration dates, work authorization renewals, and immigration milestones to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Coordinate the preparation and collection of supporting documentation for immigration filings.
  • Maintain Public Access Files (PAFs) and immigration records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Advise HR and business leaders on immigration-related processes, timelines, risks, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate international assignments, relocations, repatriations, and cross-border employee transfers.
  • Partner with relocation vendors and service providers to facilitate employee mobility programs.
  • Monitor changes in immigration laws and regulations and recommend process improvements and best practices.

Human Resources Generalist Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, employee development, performance management, and offboarding activities.
  • Assist with workforce planning, organizational changes, and talent management initiatives.
  • Partner with managers to address employee concerns and workplace issues.
  • Support compensation, benefits, and HR compliance activities.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy within HR systems.
  • Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Administration

  • Support I-9 employment eligibility verification processes, audits, and record retention requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and international employment regulations.
  • Coordinate government reporting activities, including Affirmative Action Plans (AAP), EEO reporting, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including immigration counsel, relocation providers, background screening vendors, and HR service providers.
  • Administer employee-related systems and processes, including K2 requests, relocation services, and corporate credit card administration.
  • Maintain confidential employee information and documentation.
  • Prepare reports, metrics, and analyses related to immigration, mobility, compliance, and HR operations.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for immigration, mobility, and compliance programs.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required or minimum 5 years experience without a relevant bachelors degree. 
  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of Human Resources experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting employment-based immigration, global mobility, or HR compliance programs preferred.
  • Experience working with external immigration counsel and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, global, or multinational organization preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of U.S. employment-based immigration processes and regulations.
  • Understanding of global mobility and relocation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, employment law, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
