Job Title: HR Generalist III
Location: Gaithersburg, MD (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)
Status: Full-time, Exempt
Reports To: Director, Human Resources
Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 / annually
About the Role
MPF Federal, a government contractor, is seeking a skilled and proactive HR Generalist III to join our team. In this role, you will serve as the primary HR point of contact for benefits administration and leave management (FMLA, STD, LTD). You will welcome new team members through our orientation process, support employee relations and performance management, and ensure overall compliance with employment laws. This is a dynamic role that supports all areas of the HR department, offering a mix of strategic administration and hands-on employee support.

Key Responsibilities
- Benefits & Leave Administration: Manage benefit plan enrollment, employee training, and monthly invoice reconciliation with the Finance team. Serve as the main contact for FMLA, Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Workers' Compensation tracking.
- Employee Relations & Performance: Partner with Program and Project Managers to address performance needs, resolve employee grievances, conduct investigations, and support the annual performance review process.
- Onboarding & Separation: Lead New Hire Orientation, coordinate with Project Managers, manage exit documentation, and conduct exit interviews.
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure company guidelines and employee handbooks align with federal, state, and local employment laws. Assist with periodic HR files and HRIS audits.
- HRIS & Systems: Utilize HRIS software to troubleshoot issues, guide employees, and build out system functionality.
- Engagement: Plan and execute organization-wide meetings, benefit open enrollments, employee recognition, and culture-building events.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management (or related field) with 2+ years of HR experience, OR 5+ years of progressive HR experience (with at least 2 years as an HR Generalist).
- Compliance Knowledge: Proven familiarity with compliance requirements including FLSA, NLRA, EEO, VETS, and Minimum Wage laws.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR technology. Experience with Paylocity is highly preferred.
- Industry Preferred Experience: Experience in Government Contracting, Service Contract Act (SCA) regulations, and supporting a remote workforce is a plus.
- Certifications: aPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP credentials preferred.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, strong project management abilities, and the capacity to handle sensitive situations with strict confidentiality and diplomacy.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Skills Required
