About the Position

The HR Compliance & Payroll Specialist supports key HR functions with a focus on leave administration, insurance licensing, employment compliance, and payroll support. This role will also serve as a strong backup to the Payroll function, helping ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with confidential information, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer the full life cycle of employee leaves, including leave documentation, documentation review, case tracking, HRIS updates, carrier coordination, and return-to-work processes.

  • Administer multi-state employee leave programs, including Workers' Compensation, FMLA, ADA, STD, and LTD

  • Administer insurance licensing and compliance, including applications, renewals, audits, and maintaining accurate records

  • Provide backup support for weekly payroll processing, including reviewing payroll information for accuracy and assisting with payroll audits and reconciliations

  • Review and maintain payroll-related information, including timekeeping, PTO, bonuses, deductions, benefits, and employee changes.

  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions.

  • Support employment compliance processes, including I-9/E-Verify, audits, EAD tracking, and related documentation

  • Support benefits administration and ensure employee changes are accurately reflected in payroll

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records

  • Assist with employee communications and engagement initiatives

  • Support special projects and other HR initiatives as needed

 

Position Requirements

  • 1–3 years of HR and/or payroll experience

  • Payroll processing or payroll administration experience required

  • Experience with full life cycle of leave administration required

  • Multi-state experience preferred

  • Experience with an HRIS/payroll system; Paycom experience preferred

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and Google Workspace

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Full-time position

  • Hours: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • In-office or hybrid

  • Normal office environment

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods

  • Must be able to type, use a computer, answer the telephone, and perform routine filing
