The Role
Our HR Business Partners (HRBP) support specific teams, working closely with management and employees on people-related issues: talent management, employee engagement, leadership coaching and development, compensation, conflict and performance management, organizational development and more. HRBPs are instrumental in initiating and driving HR programs and initiatives within specific functions.
We're looking for an HRBP Lead to drive people and business initiatives across Block's Customer Operations organization, which includes our Operational Risk Oversight and Risk Operations teams. The ideal candidate is someone who possesses strong strategic thinking abilities, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to influence and partner with senior leadership to shape the future direction of the organization. You will collaborate with senior leaders to provide expertise in organizational design, talent management, leadership development, and change management, enabling you to influence outcomes, enhance employee experiences, and support a dynamic environment. You will report to the Sr. HRBP Lead for Customer Operations.
You Will

  • Act as a strategic partner to senior leaders in the risk and regulatory teams, understanding their business objectives and aligning HR strategies to support long-term success
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR Business Partners, ensuring they deliver strategic and operational HR support across the risk and regulatory functions
  • Drive the design and implementation of HR strategies that encompass talent management, change management, organizational design, and employee engagement, aligning with the overall business strategy
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to influence decision-making and proactively address business challenges, contributing to the organization's growth and cultural evolution
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing HR team, promoting a culture of partnership, shared goals, and mutual support
  • Play a pivotal role in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, ensuring that HR practices create an inclusive, supportive, and equitable work environment
  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations to ensure consistency and alignment with both functional needs and company-wide initiatives, adapting HR solutions as the business evolves
  • Provide strategic guidance to both the HR team and business leaders to navigate change and manage organizational challenges
  • Monitor the performance of the HRBP team, ensuring that individuals are continuously growing, learning, and delivering exceptional HR support


You Have

  • Minimum 8 years experience in HR and prior experience leading teams
  • Minimum 5 years partnering with Engineering teams
  • Relevant experience building and improving company culture and increasing employee engagement, and expertise in performance management
  • Superb communication skills, including effective facilitation, listening and writing
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Effective coaching and facilitation skills and ability to influence colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of HR programs and practices, including applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Track record of strategic partnering with business leaders on multi-year company or org-wide people initiatives

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
