Role Overview
As an HRBP Apprentice, you will be embedded directly within business operations. You will work alongside senior HR leaders to align talent strategies with business goals, analyze workforce data, manage employee relations, and drive organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Business Partnering & Advisory
Shadow Senior HRBPs in departmental meetings to understand commercial objectives and translate them into talent solutions.
Assist in diagnosing team performance gaps and proposing structural or training interventions.
Support line managers in interpreting HR policies and local employment laws.
2. Employee Relations & Engagement
Act as a trusted point of contact for employee inquiries, escalating complex grievances appropriately.
Coordinate employee engagement surveys, participate in data analysis, and help implement action plans to boost workplace morale.
Assist in managing disciplinary and grievance processes in strict compliance with Kenyan labor laws.
3. Talent Management & Development
Support the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for specific business portfolios, focusing on quality-of-hire and cultural fit.
Assist in the execution of performance management cycles, ensuring KPIs are tracked and performance improvement plans (PIPs) are documented.
Identify learning needs within teams and coordinate with CDL Academy’s training arm to deploy solutions.
4. HR Analytics, Compliance & Reporting
Maintain clean, up-to-date employee records and track key HR metrics (e.g., turnover rates, time-to-hire, and absenteeism).
Generate weekly and monthly HR dashboards to help business units make data-backed people decisions.
Audit operational practices to ensure absolute compliance with the Employment Act of Kenya (2007) and IHRM standards.

You are legally grounded, business-curious, and possess the emotional intelligence to navigate complex workplace dynamics. You don't view HR as an administrative function, but as an engine for business growth.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a closely related commercial field.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of progressive experience in a fast-paced HR environment.
Professional Certification: CHRP certification (fully qualified or tracking towards completion).
Professional Membership: Active and valid registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) Kenya.
Core Competencies:
Business Acumen: Ability to understand commercial operations and financial drivers, not just HR metrics.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence without formal authority.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with modern HRIS platforms, tracking systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills for data analysis.
Discretion: Absolute integrity and the capacity to handle highly confidential information with maturity.
