Job Description
As an Associate Counsel in Home Lending Litigation you will be responsible for assisting the internal legal team and working with outside counsel to represent the Firm in litigation matters, as well as provide advice on a broad range of other matters and issues relating to Chase's residential mortgage lending business. With oversight from senior attorneys, you will have contact with, and support, management in the Firm. Demonstrating litigation skills, as well as sound legal judgment while working in conjunction with more senior attorneys, you will leverage your understanding of litigation matters to make informed decisions that deliver positive results to our customers and our business partners. Job Responsibilities
  • Managing actual and potential litigation matters
  • Advising on litigation issues that impact various business functions, including loan origination, servicing and foreclosure
  • Managing dispute resolution
  • Interpreting existing laws, rules, and regulations and advising on changes thereto
  • Advising on advocacy in connection with contemplated and proposed laws, rules, and regulations
  • Providing legal advice to the business and functions
  • Selecting, engaging, and managing outside counsel for the Firm on all matters in which outside counsel is engaged
  • Preparing presentation decks and assisting with various projects within Home Lending Litigation and the Legal Department

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities
  • Law degree and membership in jurisdictional organization. Attorney candidates must be in compliance with all relevant licensing requirements including the requirements of the jurisdiction where the role will be located prior to commencement of employment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think strategically, write well and communicate effectively with both legal and non-legal professionals
  • Ability to build and maintain good client and colleague relationships
  • Experience managing a large case load, as well as multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience researching and preparing legal documents, including basic pleadings
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills
  • Competence with the suite of Microsoft Office products

**All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • At least two years of legal work experience, preferably in litigation
  • Ability to manage a large volume of cases and balance competing priorities
  • Ability to assume significant independent responsibility
  • Knowledge of, and experience with complex litigation matters
