Role Summary
The Lead Analyst – NPE is responsible for supporting, monitoring, and optimizing non-production mainframe environments. This role focuses on hands-on execution, advanced troubleshooting, and partial ownership of batch, DB2, and system operations, while collaborating with senior engineers and advisors on complex initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support stability, performance, and availability of non-production mainframe environments
- Perform advanced batch monitoring, late job analysis, and abend resolution
- Execute and monitor DB2 table refreshes from Production to Non-Production environments
- Handle JCL updates, overrides, and ad-hoc job executions
- Monitor CPU, SPOOL, DASD, and storage utilization, escalating threshold breaches
- Perform application checkouts and environment readiness activities
- Troubleshoot SQL abends, DB2, VSAM, and CICS issues
- Coordinate with application teams and infrastructure partners to resolve environment issues
- Participate in incident resolution (L1/L2) and follow standard change and incident processes
- Contribute to documentation and operational runbooks
- Assist in automation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Examples of Daily Activities
- Mainframe batch monitoring and abend fixing
- CA7 job scheduling and late job analysis
- DB2 monitoring and data refresh execution
- Handling contention and space issues
- Managing VSAM and Non-VSAM datasets
- Executing refresh tasks for non-prod environments
- Monitoring system health and performance metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT or equivalent experience
- 6–9 years of experience with mainframe technologies (z/OS, JCL, COBOL, DB2, CICS, VSAM)
- Strong knowledge of CA7 Scheduler, DB2 utilities, SQL, and JCL
- Experience with monitoring and performance tools
- Working knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem)
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Preferred Skills
- Exposure to healthcare domain environments
- Knowledge of Teradata and distributed databases
- Basic understanding of cloud or hybrid architectures
- Experience with monitoring tools (Dynatrace, New Relic, etc.)
