Automation Engineer – AdvisorPosition Summary

The Automation Engineer – Advisor is a senior individual contributor responsible for defining automation strategy, making architectural decisions, and driving operational excellence across enterprise, production‑grade environments. This role focuses on designing and leading complex automation, infrastructure, and reliability solutions while owning end‑to‑end production outcomes for critical platforms and services.

The engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring reliability, availability, security, and scalability by leading major incident resolution, driving deep root cause analysis, implementing preventative and intelligent automation, and advancing observability maturity. Operating within advanced DevOps and SRE practices, this role defines infrastructure standards, automation frameworks, and reliability patterns while mentoring engineers and influencing cross‑team execution.

Key Responsibilities

Production Reliability & Operational Excellence

  • Own reliability, availability, and operational health of mission‑critical platforms and enterprise services.
  • Lead resolution of high‑severity and cross‑domain production incidents, providing technical leadership during outages.
  • Drive deep root cause analysis (RCA) and post‑incident reviews, ensuring systemic and long‑term remediation.
  • Identify systemic reliability risks and lead preventative automation initiatives to eliminate recurring incidents.
  • Guide vulnerability remediation, patching strategies, and compliance alignment across platforms.

Automation Architecture & Engineering

  • Architect, design, and govern complex automation solutions using Python, Bash, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and orchestration frameworks.
  • Define and evolve enterprise standards for infrastructure automation, deployment patterns, and operational tooling.
  • Lead large‑scale infrastructure automation using Terraform and cloud‑native services.
  • Drive adoption of intelligent automation, AIOps, and event‑driven workflows to improve operational efficiency and resilience.

Cloud & Platform Architecture

  • Lead architecture and reliability design for production workloads primarily on AWS, with consideration for hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.
  • Provide technical direction for cloud infrastructure design, configuration, and scalability.
  • Partner with application, platform, and security teams to resolve complex platform challenges related to performance, availability, and automation.

CI/CD & DevOps Leadership

  • Define CI/CD architecture and standards across enterprise pipelines and deployment platforms.
  • Improve delivery reliability, automation coverage, and deployment safety at scale.
  • Promote and embed DevOps and SRE principles across engineering and operations teams.

Observability, Monitoring & Proactive Reliability

  • Define observability strategy, including monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing standards.
  • Leverage tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk to drive proactive issue detection and performance optimization.
  • Lead capacity planning, resilience testing, and reliability reviews to prevent service degradation.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Coach and mentor engineers across career levels, providing technical guidance and career development support.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders, influencing platform and automation decisions.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps and long‑term reliability and automation strategy.
Core Tools & Technologies
  • Cloud Platforms: Advanced AWS architecture
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
  • CI/CD: Enterprise CI/CD platforms
  • Automation & Scripting: Python, Bash, agentic and AIOps‑driven automation, UiPath RPA
  • Observability: Dynatrace (expert), Splunk
  • Security & Compliance: NIST, CIS, ISO frameworks
  • Operating Systems & Virtualization: Linux, Windows, VMware / Hyper‑V
Experience & Qualifications
  • 11–13 years of experience in automation, SRE, DevOps, or production engineering roles.
  • Proven leadership in system design, automation architecture, and reliability engineering.
  • Deep expertise in incident management, complex outage resolution, and RCA.
  • Strong ability to influence technical direction and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear outcomes.
Must‑Have Skills
  • Expert‑level automation and infrastructure design using Python, Bash, and Infrastructure as Code. UiPath RPA
  • Strong Terraform and cloud architecture experience in production environments.
  • Deep production reliability, incident leadership, and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge of CI/CD platforms and observability tooling.
  • Strong Linux systems expertise and performance troubleshooting skills.
Nice‑to‑Have
  • Experience with AIOps, intelligent automation, or event‑driven architectures.
  • Exposure to container platforms or Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience aligning platforms to security and compliance frameworks.
  • Cloud, DevOps, or SRE certifications.

Location & Hours of Work:

  • Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate.
  • Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India, with flexibility to work remotely as required (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH).
